Personally, I don't dislike Ross' work per se as I recognize that he's technically brilliant; what I have the occasional issue with is some of his stylistic choices (overly massive chest-emblems being one). I do find it strange however that for such a seemingly staunch traditionalist on the one occasion where Ross has had the opportunity to adapt a comic-book costume cinematically, strangely enough, he's opted for basic black with the barest whiff of a motif (Spider-Man - which he basically copied years later when designing Buck Cap's costume).
