Come August, I'd gladly pay someone here $50 bucks if they can legitimately spot any of Jared's real tattoos in tattoos in the film itself, or can spot any tattoo inconsistencies with any of the characters' tattoos.

Even if this isn't going to be in the movie...this is just sloppy. I honestly want to forget that Leto is acting as the joker when watching this movie... a lot of times, when I watch TDK, I totally forget that Heath Ledger is acting and playing a part... I want to be submersed in this character and little things like this just take away from it.

I've never been concerned with minor slip-ups or aesthetic inconsistencies, hell most of the time I don't even notice them, so I won't care if his real tattoos slip through.
Although, if they can take that horrible one off of his forehead, that'd be great. :o

lol agreed

We already knew that Leto had gone proper method for the role, from sending a letter to co-star Margot Robbie with a live rat to giving the cast a dead hog.

The actor has now said of his bad guy: "The only villain who may be more infamous is the devil". Yikes.

"The Joker is an icon, a legend, the baddest of the bad and seems to be having the most fun," he told Total Film. "Hard not to be a fan of that.

"I knew I was going to have to dive deep and go to a place I had never gone before."

Leto also revealed more about working with director David Ayer on developing The Joker,

"We sat outside his house and talked and it was clear he wanted to make something really different," he said.

"He wanted to break some rules, and that's very compelling. I got the sense he was on a mission. This wasn't just a movie for him."

If Ayer wanted to break the rules, he couldn't have cast a better person to play the Joker.

Yeah wasn't Ryan Gosling up for the role originally? Glad that didn't happen
Gosling’s immensely talented on his own right and has done method before (so much so he got fired as a result), so I’ve no doubt had he decided to take it on we would have received something special. Shame about the multi-film contract turning him off.

I’ve no remorse about Leto though.

Maybe its because I have never really seen Gosling in anything good except The Notebook, which I was made to watch by my wife.... I think I saw Drive...which was horrible... but I think that's it. I have no doubt that he is a great actor...I am just glad Leto got it instead...

I never heard this thing about Gosling before... matter of fact I never heard of any other actor being mentioned aside from Leto. Where does this come from?

Gosling would've been a great joker imo. But im glad leto is doing his thing with it.

For Gosling I’d recommend:

Blue Valentine
Lars and the Real Girl
Place Beyond the Pines
Half Nelson
Nice Guys (in theaters now!)

He’s quite versatile, in spite of his image painting him as the ‘cool, silent heroic lead’ image he’s attained the past few years.

Leto goes deep into all his roles, but aside from his turn in Dallas Buyers Club, throughout his career he hasn’t really delivered as consistent and impressive of a series of performances like Ryan.

But again... I'm all in on Leto. At least physically speaking, he's the closest cast actor I've seen to the comic book Joker. That alone is a victory.

All the trades were reporting his talks, about a month or so before Jared. Him, Hardy, and Will were being courted all at the same time.

Oddly, I don't remember this at all... I reckon I would if I heard something like that. Anyway, thanks for the info.

Gosling would have been great. Probably physically a better match for Batfleck as well. Although Leto seems to better suited for the mind games of the Joker. I think he'll be great.

It would have been interesting if Leto had chosen Doctor Strange. I know he was the favorite for that role.

Who would they have cast instead for the Joker?

For future films I'm hoping

Hardy for Deathstroke

Gosling for Riddler (if he has a change of heart)

Had no idea they wanted Leto for Strange.... that would have been...interesting. I do like Cumberbatch as Strange.

Back after TDK...I always knew that Joker would come back and I always thought about who they could get... Never once did I ever think about Leto...but when I heard the news... I was beyond excited!
I hope we see LOTS more of Leto as Joker.
