in hindsight its always easy to say who would deliver a great performance... I thought Leto was an interesting choice but I could never imagine with what he came up here.. looks freaking awesome. Same would be the case for gosling..

Leto seemed like he could a lot of different versions. However, with him I was expecting something more classic.

The better question is if you knew Leto would look like that would he have been your first choice? Cause if I knew he was going to be tatted and grilled I would have wanted Gosling. Especially after seeing him in The Place Beyond the Pines. Next choice would have been Jake Gyllenhaal.

Everything worked out because Leto still looks awesome anyway despite being a different looking Joker.

However to answer your question, I don't think it would have mattered either way just because Ayer was going to slap tattoo's ect on someone. I realize Leto influenced the look like Ledger did but not to the same degree. I was behind Leto from the jump and actually wanted him to play The Joker before it was even announced. However I'm still not big on the look and want something closer to what in my opinion is the Classic Joker, but I still dig it somewhat.

This made me laugh, but it actually makes sense. Leto hasn't gone the safe, easy route with his acting career since Jordan Catalano. That he should end up playing the Joker comes as no surprise.

I honestly don't see how he copied Heath Ledger. Heath went for a nasally voice and Jared is doing a raspy deep voice.

I personally really like the look now. Idk, the grills just make his smile all the more unsettling to me and tattoos 'tell a story' so they're there for a reason.

He does sound like Ledger tho. I personally preferred the voice he was teasing at the concerts but I understand why WB would want him to sound like Heath.

I just went and listened to a bunch of Ledger clips and I don't think they sound similar, either.
