I'm not a big fan of cartel stuff. Golden chains, canes and ****. I mean, I'm OK with it, but I think classy or clownish stuff fits Joker more.

I kind of understand where the cartel, but Joker is a person who is pretty variable in personality, looks and motives

The cartel inspired Joker is just a new look on elements of Joker's versatile history, as easily as Heath Ledger anarchist Joker take was a new look on Joker's comic history, or the Jack Napier Joker, etc. Depending on how David Ayer sells it, it's a take that works looking at how Brian Azzarello, Paul Dini and some writers handled the Joker imo.

But to be fair, the cane was one of Joker's items as well.

I love it. I can't wait for this scene in its entirety!!

I had to google it. It says "sentimental in an exaggerated or false way". As for why not "murder" squad... They're criminals. So it's like "other breaking news - water, wet".
