I could've sworn he said he wasn't opposed to it.
I'm not sure what his stance is on it but he's very picky with his roles and has rarely chosen a bad film so I doubt he'd want to join in on DC/WB's latest slew of stinkers AKA the DCEU. Though if he did ever come aboard to a project then I would almost know beyond any doubt that whatever film it was would be solid.

Actors like to pick movies that give them a chance to work with a director they admire. If WB attracted a director on Leo's wishlist it could happen.

If you've seen Gone Baby Gone and The Town Ben makes realistic/gritty films.

Believe it or not the "look" of the Joker is not far off what a real Joker would look like in this world. Now if he decides to keep it comic book then yea he'll change it. But don't assume that Ben hates the look. He might just dislike the direction they went with the character.

Or he might not dislike it at all. I personally love this re-interpretation of the Joker. The Joker is my favorite fictional character and a HUGE thing for me, and I have no problem at all with the tattoos, the bling or any other stylistic choice, I actually think they make sense for this world they created.

I could be completely wrong, but I believe the reason why they cut so many Joker scenes is because maybe they were too disturbing; take the "hurt you really bad" scene for example, the take they used for the trailers is (in my humble opinion, of course) way more disturbing than the one they used in the movie; also, they wanted to portray the Joker/Harley relationship in a more "romantic" way, instead of the disturbed, abusive relationship they really have. I'm pretty sure plenty of the scenes they cut was of Joker torturing and breaking down Harley...actually, I saw this youtube video (to be taken with a grain of salt, of course) about how the thing cut out of the movie show all of the squad members as people WAY more unlikeable than what we so onscreen, which they should be, considering that they're supposed to be "worst of the worst".

I just REALLY hope we get a director's cut....

Ayer just comes off as weak to me. He was talking about that condom business and how mortified it was, well then shut it down. Tell Leto to chill. It's like he was intimidated by him and I've never heard of Jared being difficult to work with, he did 2 movies with Fincher who is notorious for his many takes etc. and there were no problems. Ayer should have done something and not let Jared run around like God.

Ayer encouraged it. He seperated Jared and Jared said the whole people calling hin Mr J thing was completely David's doing.

Separating Jared from the squad wasn't even necessary seeing as they don't share scenes :funny:

There's a pic out there of Bale and Ledger enjoying some craft service together. They did fine.

Leto's performance in Dallas Buyer's Club is really amazing. Well deserved Oscar win.

Yeah all of his scenes were with Margot and she's had nothing but good things to say about Jared. They should've paired them together for some interviews though. Ben and Jared would be fine. They were already off in a corner talking at the premiere :P

I thought Fassbender deserved the oscar that year. Had no problem with Leto winning though.

lol. I was excited when Will Smith said there's a scene between him and the Joker. What a waste.

Leto's performance was the worst kind of reductive, "important actor" representation of Trans people. The way he referred to the character as a "creature" in his interviews was so offensive.

Ill admit Leto's performance wasn't anything special in Dallas Buyers Club but you are seriously the kind of person that Politically correctness exists for if that offended you. He said the character was "A beautiful creature". He was being incredibly classy..

I guarantee in future years his performance will be looked at the same way we look at mistral shows now.

Or just forgotten as I didn't think his role or the film were that memorable.

I think it's interesting that the "Joker surrounded by weapons shot" was inspired by Pink Floyd's the Wall and that a lot of the film's inspirations were musical, Bowie, Debbie Harry etc.

Ayer can't direct traffic.

It was strange how many people were optimistic for him directing this.

Most likely the latter. It wasn't a terrible performance, but it left no impression. It was just....there.

Speaking of weapons, I remember a lot of people thought this Joker would have the goofy toys like a squirting flower and a hand buzzer. But he was a guns and knives guy, too.

I actually forgot the "hope you got insurance " line didn't even make it in the movie....

He referred to her as "woman" and literally corrected journalists when they said "him".

Eddie Dean's got beef with Leto because he stole his youth serum.

All that chit chatz gonna getcha hurt, hunka hunka. :hehe:

Wish it were in there instead of "come on puddin, do it!". That line felt like it came out of nowhere. Did she know Batman was behind them before Joker? If not what the hell was she talking about? do what??

I don't know why they kept that in there, because it relates to a part they CUT. Not sure what went through their minds with some of these decisions.

"We just cut trailers together! Why the hell are we doing this?! What's wrong with these idiots???"
