Yup. In a way, her alluding to Mr. J without actually showing him would have built the anticipation even more.

But that's alternate universe stuff. The movie happened, and now they have to make the best of it.

He should have been Hannibal Lecter in Manhunter in this movie. That's how you sell the Joker.

Ayer can't direct traffic.

It's really baffling to me, a director who doesn't really direct just let's an actor make the calls. Actors need director, need some guidance, you can't just let them run around do what they want. Batfleck needs to confiscate the rats and the condoms sit down with Jared and figure everything at the start if Jared would be in his flick

Quite right. It's a gutless move to try and make Joker a more attractive character. He's supposed to be the worst of the worst. A terrifying, unpredictable monster... not a lovesick gang leader.

Presumably then you think that Paul Dini is a hack and Harley Quinn is an altogether unmerited character.

Hitchcock was famous for it. But Ayer isn't Hitchcock and the script was frankly a piece of ****.

And *Eddie Dean* Dicaprio is really not that kind of actor. People keep trying to force character acting on him and it's not his strong suit at all. Doesn't help that he sounds the same in every damn role he's ever done since he was 16. His voice still hasn't reached puberty...
Go watch Wolf of Wall Street and Django Unchained and tell me he wouldn't make an incredible Joker.

The script wasn't bad...it was just very David Ayer. Which is fine, but not a good fit for a comic book movie.

****, we all wish we could be pushing 40 and still look and sound like Leo. Who the hell wants to age that much? High school looks ****ing supermodels on yachts....oh, agony.

I've seen both and I think he would be a horrible choice. He's a fine actor but he's not a character actor. He sounds the same in every film, he can't change his voice or mannerisms to save his life. Like I said, good actor but this is not something he could pull off. Hell when he played J Edgar the makeup department couldn't even save his lackluster performance... And don't even get me started on his ridiculous pity Oscar for The Revenant

The problem with Leto is there's nothing behind his eyes. They're completely dead. Ledger always had a sense of malevolence and humor in his eyes, Leto has nothing.

We're not talking about Harley, we're talking about Joker. Yes even Dini has written some duds.

I can't think of any comic book role for dicaprio, and besides, he probably feels above all that anyway.

Dicaprio is overrated as an actor, he was great in Wolf of Wall Street and that's about it. I thought he was terrible in Django Unchained.

Oh, I see. So Harley is okay so long as she is not attracted to The Joker. Got it.

Are you the resident contrarian? :funny: First Ayer can't direct traffic and now Leo has only one good performance to his name.

I think Leo would've made a great Grant Morrison-inspired Lex Luthor.

Leo is a phenomenal actor but yeah, I'm not sure The Joker would be a great fit for him. That said, if he somehow got the role I wouldn't complain and highly doubt he'd give a bad performance. If he ended up being great I wouldn't be surprised, he's a great actor.

Doubt he would even consider doing a comic book movie though.

I could've sworn he said he wasn't opposed to it.

Nobody said or implied that at all. Its Joker who we're talking about not Harley.

Yeah, he said "you never know".

McConaughey has also commented that he's been looking for a meaty superhero role, and I would welcome it.

@The Joker

No, it has flown over yours. Try to step out of your dull, turgid dogma for a few moments and actually think. By reflexively cheerleading any comment that is critical of Leto/Ayer/anything that is not Heath Ledger's Joker as directed by Christopher Nolan in The Dark Knight, you have backed yourself into an absurd position where you imply that The Joker's character cannot facilitate the existence of Harley Quinn. It's as if you have a committed geek's knowledge of the trivia and lore surrounding your chosen character, but a defective understanding.
