Agreed on all points

Nice to see you Joker, not so nice though that Suicide Squad ended up being such a disappointment for both of us, especially for you since I know how close to heart Joker and the whole of Batman's mythos is to you! I read your review of this film and I completely agree with you!

It honestly felt like they got their entire dynamic backwards.

After Joker "died" in the helicopter crash, Harley pulled herself together pretty quickly. She even chooses to kill Enchantress instead of taking her up on her offer to bring Joker back to life. And at the end of the film, she seems pretty content. Didn't really seem like she was giving Joker a second thought. Meanwhile, Joker spends the entire film pining after her like a love-sick puppy, even after nearly getting killed for it. And she's the crazier of the two.

Yep. The whole thing feels ass-backwards.

I was so sick of the film already at that point that I didn't even notice that detail while watching the film, but you're totally right. Wow! It's really backwards!

Thanks man. I appreciate it

It's a pretty stupid thing to say regardless. But hey, if it doesn't bother you, all the power to you.

Besides, I can't recall any instance where a studio releases a bunch of footage of an actor from a movie because that actor dies. Not exactly sure what he's referencing anyway.

As for Heath, it's not that he's directly referencing him. But Leto is talking about how the studio may release more of his footage as The Joker if he died soon. And the last actor who played The Joker did die soon after playing the part. So while he may not be directly referencing it, it's understandable why people would be reminded. Hence my tone-deaf remark.
I'm fairly certain that there were a few movies cobbled together from archival footage of Bruce Lee after he died (including from his real-life funeral)

They hardly released anything of Heath from TDK after he died. Nolan forbade it from happening, and WB followed suit.

It might have clicked into Jared's head when he mentioned it. From my POV, it looked liked he realised Heath might come into the frame of mind when he spoke those words.

Except the film actually states Harley was an accomplice in Robin's death. And he already has the grill and the tattoo when he meets her in Arkham Asylum.

I literally JUST came from watching the movie and I totally missed that, care to point out when/where??

Thank you :yay:

during her introduction where they list her crimes, it is quickly mentioned. Would have missed that too but in Poland the subtitles translated only this part of her intro list of crimes

Isn't part of Harley's intro on screen titles? Pretty sure it was. Says something like 'implicated in the death of Robin' or some such.

During the briefing scene at the beginning. She says point-blank that Harley is crazier than the Joker.
I took this as Amanda Waller exaggerating in order to sell the idea of Harley to the other gentlemen. That whole meeting was one big sales pitch.

More like it was a pitch to the audience about who these characters are. This was the intro and background to each of the squad. Nothing Waller said about the others was false or exaggerated. No reason to believe Harley's was either.

they should recast this guy for the batman solo film

"I'm da Joka baybee!"

The difference is Harley may not seem as impressive compared to the others so i wouldn't put it past her to heighten things a bit when talking about Harley. She's limited with who she can use on the task force, so she takes Harley because she's indeed nuts and dangerous, but she needs to make her seem even more of a nutjob in order to put her on the level of Boomerang, Deadshot etc.

All of them except for Enchantress and Diablo are limited in what they can do. They're all just normal people with a talent - shoot guns, throw boomerangs etc. Waller didn't exaggerate or lie about the others to make them seem more badass. I don't think Waller would even want Harley on the team if she didn't measure up. The line sucks but there's no reason to think Waller didn't mean it. Being more insane doesn't make her more talented. If anything that would be a negative because it makes her harder to control.

That whole scene was monolgue for the audience about the squad members.

Ayer said it was just headcanon so unless he's directing the next Suicide Squad movie, Batman film, etc they can retcon it if they feel its necessary.

Snyder said in his head Joker killed Robin 10 years prior to BvS.

Jared Leto is signed for multiple movies, right?
Im not sure, I would think so. However he did say that if fans don't like him then he doesn't want to "over stay his welcome" and that he would go "Live in a ******* cave somewhere".

To me the "She's crazier, more fearless" line was pretty bad, but I don't put much thought into it or take it for Gospel, it's a throw away line to let the audience know Harley's a bad ass.

We all know the Joker is the craziest character in the DC World.

In a way, it is ass-backwards, but it's also ass-backwards from the story they originally intended to tell of the Joker/Harley relationship. You can thank the reshoots, re-dubbed dialogue, and hack-job editing -- aka WB -- for that.

Seemed like something we can thank test audiences for.

She's also trying to "sell" the criminals she chose for her team to those government officials, in order to get the green light.

I suppose one could make the case that she is crazier than the Joker, since many people believe that despite being a sadistic psychopath, The Joker is not actually insane.

Harley, on the other hand, would be easier to classify as a straight-up nutjob with deep-rooted psychological issues. She's certainly much less intelligent than The Joker, and she's often been shown to lack the capacity for individual thought that we know The Joker clearly has. Plus, anyone who falls in love with someone like The Joker and willingly helps him escape so she can join him...has to be pretty ****ing crazy.
