Jared Leto IS The Joker - - - - - - - Part 16

Ayer has to defend his movie, even thought it isn't fully his movie. He filmed it. He said yes to multiple cuts and to the final cut. He allowed his name on it. While he does come of super defensive and the movie he is describing to me isn't what ended up on the screen, I respect the fact that he stands behind the product. It's his, he made it. He saw what happened to Josh Trank - he has seen how not to act.

Leto is very pissed off - I'd say more then he lets on, but I understand his frustration. He clearly gave a lot of himself in this process and you don't really see any of his hard work on screen. The guy picks and chooses his projects and this divisive performance wasn't what he burgeoned for.

Agreed. He's very picky about which roles he takes and gives 110% when he takes one. To have his performance panned based on the butchered remains of what few scenes they left of his in the movie has got to be infuriating.

Exactly. Also what the studio did to him is just disrespectful, plain and simple

If they do that it will be a clear admission they were wrong to go with that horrible design in the first place.

Yeah, but its not like it can hurt their reputation further. At least as many potential viewers will go "Hey, they are finally starting to fix things!" as will get driven away by the sense that WB is admitting error.

This. This makes me want to watch some of Jared's work. I'll have to go back and see what films I have seen him in but I can't think of any on the top of my head. I feel bad for Jared...all that hard work he put into and this is how he gets treated in the end. He has every right to be upset because I would be too. He deserves more than what the studio did to him.

You know, maybe all us don't want another Ledger Joker - he was exceptional in TDK, but that was TDK's Joker. I personally wanted something different and Leto gave me that. It was mostly a glimpse, but I'm intrigued.

 same here. I was intrigued but with what little we saw, it left me wanting more - More Joker and Harley - together. :hrt:

I was intrigued as well, and I want him to return as soon as possible.

I'm shocked that this performance may be up for a Razzie.

I haven't seen his performance overwhelming labeled as bad. Just different and not in the movie enough.

I'm still a big believer that its a good performance imo. It took me a 2nd time seeing it realize that though.

I would, too, but it wouldn't surprise me if he decided to walk away. They're still posting negative click bait articles about him and/or his performance. :cmad: I don't know that it's worth the abuse.

That's what they get for over-hyping a very weak version of Joker.

Maybe in Affleck's movie.

They did overhype him.

It's only weak in connection to the story.

His Joker was very interesting to me. However, he was just sort of there.

Thats fine if he was in another movie before this. Not his first introduction in the DCEU.

If you wanna see more of Jared's work there is this beautiful movie called Mr. Nobody which is so underseen but it's great. There's of course Dallas Buyers Club which in spite of depressing subject is a very warm and optimistic film. And there's Requiem for a Dream which is a hellish nightmare but a fantastic movie

My 2 favs he appeared in are Fight Club and American Psycho, though he doesn't have a big part in those

....I'm wondering when anyone claimed they wanted another Ledger-type performance.

Matter of fact, a criticism of Leto is that his Joker sounds similar to Ledger's.

And new album is coming next year. I imagine he will want to tour again so between doing what he loves and being adored OR coming back to do something for the studio which did this to him and he has been getting so much hate for it without any guarantee they won't do it again....

Quite right. It's a gutless move to try and make Joker a more attractive character. He's supposed to be the worst of the worst. A terrifying, unpredictable monster... not a lovesick gang leader.

Exactly.

I know, but it would be nice to see them subtly admit that by getting rid of that design. It was a disaster from the start.

It's been a while since i watched TDK but besides them being named Joker and liking to get in peoples faces, I see very little similarities. Maybe when I get back from my holiday I should rewatch TDK to fully immerse myself.

Razzie was the first word that entered my mind after I walked out of the theater, but I think it should go to Eisenberg just because Leto had such a short amount of screen time.

Eisenberg is whole new level of bad in BvS. I was actually embarrassed watching him.

There's word that Leto's up for a Razzie?

Nothing concrete really, but I'm sure random people on the Internet have mentioned it on things like Twitter and such.

But considering their rotten tomatoes standing, BVS and SS are sure to be up for quite a few of them if I were a betting man. Hopefully they spare Affleck, Will, and Margot though. They were all pretty great. I probably give Henry a pass too just because he had little or nothing to work with.

If any CBM villain deserves a Razzie this year its Lex Luthor.
