I enjoy it for what it is, but I think my appreciation for it over the years had more to do with the garbage that came after it rather than the suit itself. Had a hell of a silhouette though.

He doesn't remind me of Manson. Well a bit of Charlie Manson, but anyway. Nolan's Joker did have some Crow to him though. Clearly inspired by. But they made it work so well, it didn't really matter.

You're looking at the image and you see similarities to Manson, you're jumping to the conclusion that they're intentionally aping him and writing it off as them being lazy. That, to me, is lazy.

Just because you're looking at it and seeing Manson doesn't mean that's the one and only source they're drawing from in this new look.

1: I don't think it's possible to look at that image and reasonably say that they're not listing Manson's look to some degree.

2: It's not lazy simply because they copied Manson's look instead of coming up with their own. It's lazy that their design for the wacky socially deviant murderer is aping metal/punk rock culture with metal grills and lots of tattoos. It's monocultural "you can tell he's bad because he's different" ********, and that's why it's lazy.

It is a childhood favorite, so I don't feel like I can be honest with myself about it. Same with everything in Returns.

I think it's because they're silver, so it's a bit jarring.

I don't think anybody minds the idea of Joker having fake teeth because Batman knocked the real ones out years ago, but the silver I can understand being jarring at first.

The "Damaged" tattoo is the worst part. His whole entire look -- along with his actions -- will scream that he's "damaged" to everyone and anyone.

Did The Joker really need to ink himself on the center of his forehead to drive that idea home any further?
