Jared Leto IS The Joker - Part 3

:whatever: Cut the condescension. I don't give a **** what he wears.

1. Where are his eyebrows?
2. Why does he have face tattoos - especially the one on his forehead?
3. Why does he have grillz?

*flips table*

This Joker just looks......majestic...in a sick twisted way....he really does!

I LOVE the look!

He probably got his teeth knocked the hell out after a fight with Batman...hence the grilled teeth!

Can't wait till he is suited up and clothed!

EUUUUGHHHH!!!! That is just horrible. The big reveal pic they release for fans and audiences is him bare chested, covered in tattoos (even one on his forehead saying damaged!!!), silver front teeth, and reeking of Marilyn Manson.

This is just terrible. The only thing that could make this salvageable in any way is Leo's performance, but no matter how good that is I will always hate this look. It's total crap, and doesn't suit the Joker at all, IMO.

Punk tattoo Joker. This bad, bad, BAD!

Right here. Just back from a night out with friends. Got several beers on me, but this awful pic sure sobered me up quick smart.

I am really disappointed to hear that, Joker. Can't exactly disagree with most of it, but knowing how big a fan you are I was hoping you'd like it. Sorry to hear that isn't the case.

The "damaged" tattoo is the only lame thing about it.

I think of the Joker as someone who is free beyond all limitations, not someone who is broken.

i can picture Harley tattooing that on his forehead

Any other quotes you want to borrow from the director to use as descriptions?

The "Damaged" tattoo is the worst part. His whole entire look -- along with his actions -- will scream that he's "damaged" to everyone and anyone.

Did The Joker really need to ink himself on the center of his forehead to drive that idea home any further?

I agree. Too on the nose. The hair, the skin, the lips, his mannerisms, actions, behavior, and words should be more than enough to show he is damaged. Writing it on his forehead is corny. It's like writing the words "split personality" on Two-Face's forehead. I have full trust Leto will be amazing but that forehead tat has got to go.

Because Manson took a lot of his look from the Joker, not the other way around.

Or maybe the people behind this Joker design took a lot of his look from Manson? Since there ARE several overt similarities between them.

huh? Joker was created in the 40s, what are you talking about?

Exactly.

Yes. I see what the Ayer meant with Joker being "majestic"!

I seeeeeeeeeeee!:joker::joker::joker::joker:

Can't wait to see him clothed and in action!

I'd love that.

I can see why the tattoo is dismissive. To me the tattoo makes the Joker's insanity seem more performative, while I'm sure the tattoo haters want a more purely insane Joker.

That's a valid point actually. It may as well say 'Bad Guy'.

Then why did you post a picture of The Joker in a suit and ask why Leto doesn't resemble him?
Oh my god... ignore the suit. Look at his face. Why am I even answering this condescending and rhetorical question when I answered it in the post you just quoted?

Gone. He either shaves them or they were permanently burned off his face after his exposure to the chemicals that bleached his skin.

Because he thinks they look cool? I don't know. The Joker is insane. I can't presume to understand why he does what he does.

Probably because of Batman.
These were rhetorical questions - you don't need to answer them. What I'm saying is those three things are the things that make him NOT look like the Joker. Aesthetically it looks bad. It's distracting. It's trying too hard to stand out and be it's own thing that it just looks bad. His performance will probably still be great, but he looks bad.

That's why people are complaining, not because he's not wearing a shirt. You don't have to agree with peoples' opinions (approval or disapproval) but at least understand WHY people are complaining - because his face looks like doodoo.

Because Manson took a lot of his look from the Joker, not the other way around.

1: That doesn't mean that the aspects of this design that are different from the usual Joker design aren't clearly inspired by Manson.

2: I'm not sure that what you said there is true.

Or maybe the people behind this Joker design took a lot of his look from Manson? Since there ARE several overt similarities between them.

Those "overt similarities" have been around since about the 60s. Because they have white face paint and similar face shapes the design team "took a lot" from Manson?

This isn't a chicken and egg situation, the Joker and most of his defining features came about before Manson was even being baptized.

I don't get all the complaints. The only thing I don't like is "Damaged."

So just to be clear - we were all fine with The Dark Knight Joker's look not being permanent; he had normal skin and hair with makeup/dye, scars notwithstanding.

So we were fine with the idea of Joker not just happening to be permanently clown-colored, but taking steps to cultivate this look. That's the Joker everyone says will never be topped because of performance.

Yet even though makeup and hair dye to get the twisted clown criminal look is a-okay, using tattoos, a one-time sitting that would result in a permanent representation of this look he's going for, THAT'S unreasonable according to some fans.
