Jared Leto IS The Joker - Part 3

The lack of eyebrows doesn't bother me at all and neither do the face tattoos (apart from damaged).

Assuming this is the permanent look and not some 75th anniversary promo, I think these grievances will be wiped clean once we see Leto perform.

Exactly. We got comic-accurate Batman and Superman, and then this schlock of a clown prince of crime.

My only concern is if the forehead tattoo looks distracting and out-of-place even with all of the other tattoos visible, how distracting and out-of-place is it going to look when he is wearing a suit and it is the only tattoo visible?
It could be an intentional juxtaposition; the permanently tainted, brutish outsider, dressed in the clothes of uppity higher-class.

Hell, the classical look may even be utilized as his way of mocking the pretentious people who look down on people like him.

This Joker looks like he would beat you to death with a crow bar.

All historically "Joker things"…Good Lord, CBM fans are really the worst.

1: The Joker has never been known for shaving his eyebrows.

2: This exact shade of pale skin is not historically a Joker thing. It's not pure clown makeup white, it looks like more realistic pale skin, and looks a lot more like mansion's skin tone.

3: Eye shadow in general is not something The Joker has sported very often before, and the eye shadow in this picture looks pretty similar to the way Manson often applies his makeup.

If there were ever a personification of "reactionary" it's the average CBM "fan".

No, I'm pretty sure that honor still goes to white nationalists.

My friend, a comedian for Whitest Kids U' Know tweeted;

'if someone killed themselves because of that Jared Leto Joker picture I would totally get it'

ha hahah haha hahahaaa

I am really disappointed to hear that, Joker. Can't exactly disagree with most of it, but knowing how big a fan you are I was hoping you'd like it. Sorry to hear that isn't the case.

Thanks Queenie. All we can hope for now is a stellar performance from Leto because his visual look sucks so much it's almost like someone is playing a prank with this pic. It's so bad it doesn't seem possible to be genuine.

Boom, champion of the dapper looking classic Joker look for this movie, I am surprised you're taking this so calmly. This looks like a punk rocker from a Joker themed band.

Oh my god... ignore the suit. Look at his face. Why am I even answering this condescending and rhetorical question when I answered it in the post you just quoted?

Is that another rhetorical question?

That's why people are complaining, not because he's not wearing a shirt.

I know why people are complaining. You were just a little unclear. I understand what you're saying now, though.

This Joker has read his own comics, I suppose. I like it overall, it's just the tattoo choices that feel a bit off.

Do you have any reading comprehension at all? Because literally no one has said that.

They're saying that there's a resemblance and that MAYBE the folks behind this Joker design took aspects from Manson's previous looks as inspiration and applied it to this version of the Joker.

No, no, no. People weren't being this level headed until it was brought up. Nobody was saying "maybe" anything, it was all "This is obviously stolen from Manson!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!".

In regard to the Marilyn Manson comparisons, not everyone is comparing the two directly. Manson is just the scapegoat people have used to convey that they don't want this Joker to have the same punk image of whatever Manson and others of that genre have going for them.

I feel the exact same, each to their own though and I'm sure everyone has their own opinion on this version of Joker.

And just for further clarification so people won't continue to talk out of certain orifices:

Most of us don't care for the tattoos, we all understand the body ones will be covered by clothes(except the "damaged" one which will always be dumb), we PERFECTLY UNDERSTAND the idea behind silver teeth but it is still jarring.

Other than that most of us, myself included, are perfectly fine with this Joker look.

Just for clarification.

Lmao relax man. Let's all get off the Manson stuff. It's all irrelevant. I doubt they sat down and even brought up his name when discussing what Jared would look like playing Joker.

We've got HAHAHAHAHA tattoos and silver grillz... And yet you're talking about shaved eyebrows and wrong skin tone. :funny:

Okay, so my knee-jerk reaction was...

"WTF!?!? What's with the tattoos and the grill? I hate it! I was expecting a more classic look for the Joker!"

Then I decided to let go of my preconceived notions and I started to look at the positives:
- He looks absolutely insane and terrifying
- He appears to be perma-white
- No perma-smile
- The eyes, lips, and hair are fantastic
- Very original take

Really, the only negatives are the tattoos (especially "damaged") and the grille. They seems so off the wall and out of character.

Then I started to re-think that. After all, if the rumors of this Joker being incarcerated are true (and they certainly appear to be), then maybe this is all his idea of a joke.

He's playing dress-up! He's poking fun at your typical hardened inmate. For comedic effect, I could even see him using stereotypical prison tough guy lingo but in his theatrical, sing-song way of speaking.

Honestly, the more I think about it and the more I look at it, the more I like the possibilities. It all comes down to interpretation, though. For now, I won't jump to any conclusions and will wait and see.

Totally not what I was expecting, but awesome nonetheless. I especially love that he's tattooed all to ****.

There's nothing wrong with the skin tone. I like the skin tone. My point is that aping punk rock/industrial metal style as a shorthand for "creepy edgy villain" is a lazy and ****** design choice.

Oh *** this thread. Where is the analysis? :whatever:

I want this to be the case so badly.

Not really liking how people are shrugging off and belittling those who have criticisms of the design. This is an incredibly uninspired, hokey-look for the Joker. It's too forced. It's kind of cringe-worthy. At least this ONE picture is. I'm sure that the final character will be better, but as for now I'm not loving prison-rock-star-hot-topic-employee-Joker.

This looks to be the most demented and twisted Joker that may hit the big screen yet. Its safe to say that this Joker has been around wreaking havoc for a while since we have an old established hard core Batman.
