Jared Leto IS The Joker - Part 3

I bet Leto will be so self-conscious about topping Ledger that he's going to lock himself in a hotel room for months as well. I just have a feeling this dude is going to go "full ******" on the role, so I think he'll be a good 'Joker'

I read a comment that prefectly summerizes my disappointment with his design. He looks like someone who is a fan of The Joker, but doesn't look like The Joker himself. That is so true. He looks like a punk rocker who is a fan of the Joker. There's nothing unsettling about this picture. So forced and tacky. Really, really hope this isn't the final design.

Agreed.

It's a very Rolling Stone type of picture. That's why I'm in two minds about whether it's promo or not.

The quotes from the character, the Joker, in the actual movie says you're wrong.

Yeah, that whole speech about "upsetting the established order" and about how everyone cares more about a "little old mayor" than other people... those are anarchist statements. Pretty straightforward.

The quotes from the movie where he defines anarchism incorrectly. He is not an anarchist. Blowing things up and using the word anarchism in the colloquial sense as a synonym for chaos does not make you an anarchist.

You got shut down with a quote from the very character himself and you don't know how to take it. It's okay to say you're wrong once in a while.

I'm not crazy about the design but we haven't seen the performance yet so calling him a thug may be well off base.
The point is he looks lie a thug, which is the problem. There is no elegance to his tattoos, they look like the same crap a lot of random thugs in prison would get. Hence overtly thug.

Why would he get HAHAHAHAHAs and what's blatantly, clearly Joker mouth and Jester tattoos all over him if he's in something called The Red Hood gang?

No, I'm saying what if this thug look is influenced by the fact the that this Joker was initially a thug? Not saying he's still part of the Red Hood gang.

If I ran into the three Jokers in an alley -

Nicholson - Wow, this guy is creepy. Definitely turning back the other way.

Ledger - NOPENOPENOPE. No way I'm crossing this guy. Running as far away as I can.

Leto - Oh...this guy must have just gotten back from a rock concert. Nothing to see here. I'm sure he'll grow out of this phase when he's older.

It just isn't doing it for me. He's so un-scary that it hurts. This was my worst fear. That they'd go for the forced Marilyn Manson look. Gah. Anyone else with me on this?

Holy sucky Joker designs Batman. What ass did they pull this tattoo loving punk design from? Of all the Joker designs that's the best they could think of. Imagine what Harley will look like. Probably a punk chick covered head to foot in I :hrt: Joker tats.

An anarchist is someone who wants to abolish an authority as considering it useless. The Joker considers that the way these people, the schemers have every little detail planned is a 'pathetic attempt to control things'. He wanted to establish chaos by 'upsetting the established order' and in that way he, took control of the situations by planning to get caught to get Lau, the mob's money and being the ultimate Gotham's criminal. But what's more important, he planned all that to confuse Batman, and he did. He lied about Rachel and Harvey's location, bringing Harvey 'down to his level' proving that you're a 'hero today and gone tomorrow'. So he was a true anarchist, taking power by force through upsetting the established order. And it's true that people freak out when something does not come out as planned.

No, an anarchist is someone who wants to abolish all authority because they consider authority to be inherently harmful to society. They do not want to establish chaos, and they do not take control of things and lead people through force. The Joker is not a true anarchist, or any kind of anarchist at all. Anarchism is a political ideology which The Joker clearly does not adhere to.

This is probably just a joke in itself, and just a promotion for Jared's band on RS front cover :o

At least someone who is in the logic channel right now.

Waiting for the others...
It's crazy how so many people still haven't learned a damn thing from Ledger's Joker.

The tattoos are thuggish and that's what I'm referring to. No two ways about it.

Not to mention the weird teeth implants/grills.

He looks like a South African rapper.
And that's something that is so unsettlingly about it. He looks like a thug. The Joker isn't a thug, he's the one who orders thugs around. With this, he looks like someone who should be working for The Joker, but not the actual Goddamn Joker.

I realize that I find myself defending choices that I don't even care for just because I dislike these extreme overreactions so much.

Hit the nail on the head with this one. He looks like a Joker groupie.

And yet I see plenty of *****ing about the Man of Steel costume online because the underwear isn't on the outside.
You know I like the MoS suit, but they still haven't figured out how to compensate for the lack of red there.

That certainly seem to be playing on Leto's musical background, only exaggerated and perverted to a grotesque degree.

Leto could deliver the greatest acting performance ever and it wouldnt convince me that he doesnt look stupid.

Thinking a character's design is stupid is not the same as thinking the entire performance will suck.

You know if it was just body tattoos I could still be optimistic and figure that they were going to cover them up with a classy suit.

But then they had to go and get the forehead tattoo that says "damaged".

YES! You could imagine this guy in the Jokerz gang from Batman Beyond or something. Not the main man himself.

I realize that I find myself defending choices that I don't even care for just because I dislike these extreme overreactions so much.

Are you upsetting the established order, ISS? :o :cwink:

You got shut down with a quote from the very character himself and you don't know how to take it. It's okay to say you're wrong once in a while.

Do you not understand that words have definitions? An anarchist is someone who adheres to the political ideology of anarchism. Someone using the word anarchism in its colloquial sense as a synonym for chaos does not make him an anarchist.

If the Joker said that he was going to "hound Batman to the ends of the Earth," would that make him a literal tracking dog?
