I knew we were in trouble the second we saw Joker's face hanging on the wall.

A decent Joker issue and probably one of the more popular new 52 relaunches

That's true, really, though I quite enjoyed the Batman-Joker interaction at the start of the issue. Of course, it made absolutely no ****ing sense that this appeared to be their first showdown, when the same sequence of Robins was still in existence.

That's probably because it was nerfed as a relaunch. As alluded to above, little in the Batman titles changed. Individual characters were screwed up, like Mr Freeze, but Batman himself appeared to have traversed into the N52 in some kind of glass reality capsule.

It's weird how the Batman Inc. thing carried over and even spawned some spin-off titles in the New 52.

Well of that makes sense the new 52 happened because they wanted to fix characters who got messed up like Superman and Wonder Woman.
Batman was actually successful so they didn't need to do anything.
Joker got changed a little as a consequence of the new 52 but then he went right back to normal.
Harley Quinn got turned into a somewhat lighthearted female joker but that worked well since she became really popular.

If Leto is reading new 52 books I'd recommend he read Kubert's Batman: Joker 23.1 since that's the best he was ever written.

Sure, nobody liked Harley Quinn before the New 52 fixed her.

She's so much better now that they gave her an awful costume and a relationship with Deadshot. :o

Been meaning to ask. During the trailer was the Robin tattoo on his arm when he had his "scene" with Harley?

I'd be disappointed if they killed off Robin before Harley Quinn joined the Joker. Or I hope Ayer doesnt make that continuity error by leaving that tat in during that scene if he doesnt kill Robin until after the fact.

Hamill... Again, even though he seems to be in a romance with Harley there is a sense that it might not be consummated, but that's me.

I disagree. Obviously, being in what was considered a children's cartoon, they couldn't show Joker and Harley getting it on, however I think there were definitely clues that Joker and Harley were "involved" on a more intimate level than just Villain and sidekick. Most notably Harley's line "Don't cha want to rev up your Harley" then making motorcycle noises. That line alone hints that Joker and Harley have been doing things but is subtle enough to go over the kids heads. We saw Joker wasn't interested that time, but it suggests that it has been successful in the past.

Also worth mentioning is this clip of Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker, where Joker and Harley are playing happy families after kidnapping and warping Tim Drake into a mini Joker.

It's twisted yet it's a scheme that wouldn't have worked or made sense unless Joker and Harley were in a relationship of some sort.

On the subject of Hamill Joker, he was perfect in nearly every way, except one. He seemed to be too hung up on money sometimes. One specific episode comes to mind, where a dead mobster left Joker millions in his will. Joker was so blinded by the sudden influx of cash, he didn't realize it was mostly counterfeit. Granted, Joker was dead broke at the beginning of the episode, but I never imagined Joker to need very much money or resources to wreak havoc.

Hopefully Letos Joker can take a queue from Ledger's Joker in regrets to money. Showing people he enjoys what he buys with it, but he doesn't worship it like typical criminals.

I think it can't be denied she was nowhere near this popular before the reboot. I mean even her creators have seen the shift from her just being mildly popular Batman villain sidekick to unquestionably being DC's most popular female character post reboot.

Regwec touched a nerve, apparently.

I didn't see anything about the latter...*sigh* That's even more disappointing.

Well, that's mostly guesswork on my part. I think Will Smith is playing Deadshot because of Focus, another WB film. Apparently Smith and Margot Robbie had mad chesmistry in that (I haven't seen the film) so it's possible that Ayer went with Smith because he wanted to tap into that energy between the two since they were going to adapt the romance from the comics. Again, just a theory, but I find it pretty interesting that a huge star like Will Smith (someone who looks nothing like the character from the comics) was brought into the DCEU to play a C list villain like Deadshot.
