Yeah, maybe if they have it backed up with the story. I meant he shows up with a hook in this movie, just because. You know to make him look like a BA. In that case just give him an eyepatch and a peg-leg already. Showing the loss of his hand, in the JL movie, would make for a nice dramatic moment.

Yeah he shouldn't just show up with the hook...UNLESS there are flashbacks in a JL movie/solo Aquaman movie to show how he lost his hand

I like the idea of him having to cut it off to save his son, that works well.

The Atlanteans have different anatomy from humans. They are much stronger to be able to survive deep pressures. There are also different sub-species from different colonies.

Atlantis used to be a big nation above land. Then, it split into 3 parts when it sank into the ocean. The main surviving nation and capital is Atlantis. Then there's Xebel and the Trench.

Arthur is a descendant of royal Atlantean bloodline.

Mera is Xebelian. She was the Queen of Xebel .

These guys are the Trench. They were former Atlanteans who evolved because they ended up much deeper beneath the sea floor.

Thanks, Fanboiii. The Trench seem like a direct lift from H P Lovecraft, which is fine by me.

I must confess that I haven't ever been much of a reader of Aquaman, and know him mainly from the Justice League comics and crossovers. I need to catch up: my last professional exam is tomorrow, so it's good timing.

I actually see them using Ocean Master with Manta as a sequel villain. Maybe Arthur becomes King by quelling a brewing war between the Atlanteans and the Trench.

That's the thing about the villains Aquaman has, they all look pretty damn cool and creepy.

The Eel for example, not a great name but whatevs.
