Jaws Remake In The Works :(

whats with this remake talk? from the sounds of the OP the berg is writing a sequel. no WAY would he allow a remake of his classic movie to happen whilst hes alive. im pretty sure its a sequel...maybe a grittier sequel ala Batman Begins, but a sequel nevertheless

well, if they do end up doing a remake, I hope they bring back the mechanical shark... recasting the shark would be a cinematic crime!

Did you really need to ressurect this thread?

I think it would be idiotic to remake this movie to be honest. A lot of it still stands up perfectly well, even the shark in most scene's IMO, and there is no way they could improve on the original.

Co-sign.

Jaws is my favourite movie of all time. Sure, there are moments were I wonder what it would look like if they gave it a bit of an fx overhall but I view the movie very much like I would the seed of my loins - I love it and accept it regardless of its flaws and would be highly miffed if anyone tried to fiddle with it.

A CG shark in the movie would be horrible if they red did the original. Something about a CG shark seems fake as hell. There was something about the shark in that film that was terrifying, and it's hard to place why. I can't be afraid of a shark from a computer. Maybe it was because he was built for real and you can imagine yourself with it it's much more terrifying.

Who needs a Jaws-remake when you have Mega Shark Vs. Giant Octopus? :hehe:

I feel the same way. Even 35 years hence, there's something about Bruce and the performance that came out of him that still gives me the heebie-jeebies. The CGI sharks in DBS, on the other hand, did absolutely nothing for me; the animatronics were great, but they really got slighted by the CGI, IMO.

And granted, the live shark footage in "Jaws" shot by the Taylors in Australia with the miniature cage does make Bruce's artificiality more evident, but then the fact that it's a REAL great white rolling and smashing the cage into oblivion IMO goes a heckuva lot farther to compensate than, say, having a giant mako burst up and contort like a non-existent Muppet in order to chomp somebody standing on deck.

Yeah the CGI sharks in DBS sucked but then again, it was 1999. The animatronic sharks in Deep Blue Sea are the best of their kind to ever have been committed to film though imo.

As I said before, I do sometimes wonder what Bruce wouldve looked and moved like had they had that kinda technology back in 1975.

FX wise, a remake could rock.

Cast & Director wise, those are big shoes to fill. And baseless "remake" complaints? Oh yeah.

I wonder if they do go forward with a remake, if they will play up Brody being a swinger?

if Spielberg would use CGI it would look great.

dont compare it with Deep Blue See . come on. the CGI was nto the problem in that movie. they didnt want scary suspense.

I am not against the idea of using CGI for the shark...BUT...I wouldn't want it to be COMPLETELY CGI. I would still like some practical effects used just for those certain shots. Like for example I wouldn't think the scene with Quint's demise would have had as much of an impact if the shark were CG.

i think they should use the approach : ''what works the best for the scene''.

Well hopefully they don't get a director like Michael Bay or Stephen Sommers who use the approach: "CGI first, ask questions later."

i know people get really upset and ***** about remakes, but i'm not going to do that. i'll simply state that if jaws is remade, it will not be a movie seen by me. ever. that's all.

in Bay's movies CGI is perfect and he always uses real sets.

f.... bad example dude :csad:

Should have figured you would have defended his big dumb action movies...lol. But I believes the actors at least Megan Fox said she didn't even know what the Transformers actually looked like until she actually saw the movie. My point wasn't whether the CGI was good or bad just that he overuses it. I don't want a Jaws movie where the actors are reacting to a CGI shark through the whole ****ing thing like in Transformers.

SHUT UP!

Just kiddin. :hehe: Bay's action dumb movies > other dumb action movies.

Hey I didn't say it was a bad for a big dumb action movie it was pretty good. But like I said...its still a big dumb action movie. But kind of gettin off topic here I was just using him as an example of how I don't want a director thats CGI-minded if a Jaws remake happens.

this is my biggest problem with SHH when it comes to Bay. i say good action and you go '' dumb''.
you are right about Megan Fox. maybe she didnt know how it will look when rendered? who knows.

if Bay didnt show Shia and Megan how they look he is stupid.i mean concept art from the robots. its so easier to act when you have in your mind the image of OP and BB and Megatron.
