I haven't read the script for Django Unchained, but Anthony LaPaglia joined the cast and said he and JGL are playing greedy Australians that encounter Django at some point. So there's his role if he does agree to sign on.

Yeah, I just read that. They're in it for like 10 minutes near the end :( I was hoping for him to play Scotty Harmony more. Oh well.

So I only just realised that JGL was the main guy in 500 days of summer.

anywho I'm a bat-fan but ahvnt read that much of the comics, is there actually a John Blake character in the Batman methos or is this a brand new character?

A really marginal character name John Blake appears in an old comic once.

I think Joker gets him fired from his job or steals his candy (really something tiny like that) and that's the last of his character

Damn Rag. I often mistake you for Regwec. It's that damn avatar and the initial. But then I realize the posts have no English wit and then it sets in.

Which is exactly why Blake is just a cop.

These movies are about Bruce not about Gotham becoming super hero central.

I see no reason to think Blake is any masked crusader, nothing in production has really hinted at this. He's been seen as a cop every time and it would fit Nolan's profile more so than adding another hero.

Beat cop swept up in the Gotham Chaos unsure of his superiors. Only wanting to make a difference and his city and being engulfed in a full fledged war against powers he's never thought existed.

I hold that he might be a reverse of Harvey. A man inspired to be a cop by batman's example, similar to catwoman. Showing that Bruce that Batman's inspiration has multiple effects. Both in the law and outside.

It took a police jacket for me to see it, but JGL looks a little like Dominic West.

Adding another superhero would require a long and dynamic arc that frankly this movie can't support. We've already got Batman, Catwoman, and Bane. That's some heavy hitters storywise. JGL is just a cop, and thank goodness.

Yup!
