After seeing the bio in the new book that just came out on Blake I completely agree. It's becoming more clear that Blake will have alot of similar characteristics to Robin without the costume and the name....nice way for Nolan to give a nod to an important character in the Batman world and at the same time finding a fit that makes sense to the Nolanverse and more importantly the story as a whole

That's one of the many reasons this damn movie needs to come out already. Speculation is always fun and I'm sure a big reason why we are on this forum, but to outright claim FACTS about a movie we havn't seen yet is pretty ridiculous....and sometimes entertaining at the same time

GOTHAM 1990 -

Sgt O'Hara finds the scene. A warehouse, the family fell foul of the mob, all dead. O'Hara walks sadly into the empty space. He is about to call it in when he sees a boy, trauma in his eyes, sitting on the high ledge above.

O HARA -Its John isn't it. I know you must be scared John. Come down here and I'll look after you.

John has a knife in his hand. He already has small hesitant cuts in the shape of a smile on his face. He raises it to finish the job.

O HARA - I know your feeling crazy right now. But I'll look after you. This is one of those moments where you have a choice to change the world. Either cut your smile with that razor, and grow up to be crazy forever, or come with me and I will adopt you. Direct that rage for good.

GOTHAM 2O YEARS LATER

BLAKE VOICEOVER -So I went with him. He put me in the seat of his car that night and took me on his beat in Gotham's broadway. And that was when the second greatest thing of our night happened.

(Scene of O'Hara cuffing Joe Chill).

He stopped the Wayne family's mugger and saved their lives. Forever after, the family were so grateful that they put loads of money and resources into the GCPD. Between the Waynes and my Dad the chief, Gotham became a place of peace and safety.

(Camera shows a clean gleaming Gotham, with a Wayne Foundation symbol shining from the roof of Police HQ).

BLAKE - And me? I grew up to be a cop too, just like my Dad was when he met me. I always was angry at hypocrisy and the way people hide their true natures, but my Dad raised me to direct that urge in good ways.

(Blake walking down the alley in proudly in uniform.)

BLAKE - Sometimes I have weird dreams though. Like it could have gone another way. I imagine myself showing Gotham what is really is, in crazy terrible ways.

(Blake shines flashlight in Dark Building, and sees Wormhole)

"what the hell...I knew the mad scientist was seen here but..."

(He falls in)

(Cut to Blake looking around confused in Batman Gotham)

"what...I created this nightmare!"

BLAKE - In this reality, I let my craziness and my urge to bring out Gotham's dark nature take me over. I cut my smile and jumped out the window - my Dad spent all night running round trying to find me, he never got to his beat and didn't save the Waynes. Without them Gotham fell into poverty and hopelessness. Their boy became Gotham's dark avenger and me..his craziest Enemy.

But now I got a chance to put things right.

Wait wait, what's the timeline? Or do we even care? I think maybe, if Blake IS an orphan...he was one of the little raskals. I'm guessing he's Alfalfa, and his hidden cowlick gives him extraordinary powers...like 'ultrasonic croonin', and 'he man woman hater laser vision'. He teams up with Batman and becomes a whole new hero, "Batfalfa"... no? He could just have one horn centered in the back.

How do you know it is an irrational denial? I've seen some of the people joking about it lightheartedly just because we know so little about who Blake is. At least, that was how it started back when we had little information. The idea was that he could be anything. I don't think they were thinking of it in terms of denial etc.

Maybe it is tongue in cheek, but with how many times you've posted the same sort of thing in this thread you come off as really annoyed with everyone. I dunno, throw in a smiley or something in there.
