The Town was really well directed despite being boring as ****. :o

^Boring = award worthy.

It didn't win any awards.

This new, mature direction they're taking with the JLA movie concerns me. Terry might think it isn't a comic book movie because it doesn't had a lot of tongue-in-cheek dialogue and bright and shiny action scenes. :o

Ben Affleck On ‘Justice League?’ His Camp Says No

By MIKE FLEMING | Wednesday August 8, 2012 @ 9:07pm EDT

I’ve been reading a lot of stuff lately that has been of questionable substance, and I’m calling ******** on this big Variety scoop today that implies Warner Bros will get Ben Affleck as director of its Justice League film. This is a story I checked out days ago, and didn’t run when Affleck’s reps stated that it was not going to happen with him. Now, it makes sense that Warner Bros would offer Affleck the project. Chris Nolan is top man over there, but after three Batfilms and after producing the Superman reboot Man of Steel, he’s gotten spandex-clad protagonists out of his system. After Nolan, the studio then offers everything else to Harry Potter director David Yates (who is now keen on Tarzan) and Affleck, who has become a major director with Gone Baby Gone, The Town, and the upcoming Argo. Just because the studio wants Affleck doesn’t mean he will do the movie, and several sources tell me he might take a meeting, but that’s it.

After putting his acting career in the dumper with questionable choices like Gigli, Affleck admirably scripted a second act for himself with his writing and directing skills, and did it by taking on unexpected, thoughtful films. His reps clearly denied he would take this, and why would he want to direct a Justice League movie, unless he himself had figured out a way to make one that would compare favorably with Joss Whedon’s billion dollar Marvel smash The Avengers? I don’t see it. As my old agent/manager pal Michael Black used to say sometimes when I came at him breathlessly with an important but dubious package involving one of his clients, “Don’t dress for that premiere, darling.”

He seems to be picky, so it may not work out. He would do well for Batman too but id rather a more fantastical approach next time.

I think he would be a breath of fresh air when it comes to Justice League. His style, handling the likes of not just Batman, but Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash and Green Lantern?? That's pretty odd. It's even more odd than Nolan because at least Nolan would ease into the big budget no prob.

I really hope he accepts.

It's not rushed. They've been trying to come out with a JLA movie for the last 10 years. The concept was always there. Before Avengers. It's just that the scripts have been poor.

No they weren't. JUSTICE LEAGUE: MORTAL was pretty solid.

Name ONE comic book that isn't like that. :o

I hope he at least takes a meeting. I'd be completely onboard with Affleck as the director.

That deadline article does make a good case. But really, what else would Affleck's reps say? I still won't believe it happens until it's reported as such.

Also, that last JLA movie wasn't killed by the story, but that horrifying casting.

At this point I think WB just doesn't care enough to truly commit to a Justice League film.

After Avengers makes a billion dollars and their billion dollar batman/harry potter franchises are done. Yeah, this is definitely when WB is least committed to a Justice League film.

I think they're going to rush it. They want money, they want money as quick as possible. Like Boosted just said, their two top franchises are done. They see how well Avengers did and they want similar results. Just, without Bale playing Batman and depending on how good MOS actually is who knows how this movie is going to turn out.

I actually liked what I heard of the story :o

I gotta think they'll approach Bale or at least through cash on the table, Nolan be damned . They're done with Nolan but something tells me if they could get bale, they would. This is Hollywood, and things change depending on opportunity .

That would really change **** up. Id love for Batbale to come back. But what about the Batman reboot they keep talking about? I really dont want a JGL John Blake series in place of a new Bruce Wayne series.

At this point though, Im actually more excited to finally see a new Batman then I would be to see Bale return in JL even though that would be great. The idea of a new Batman in Justice League and his own movies is really exciting to me, because even though Nolans Batman was a great series, it limited Batman in a lot of ways due to realism. Im ready for stuff like Croc, Clayface, Manbat, and most of all, Robin.

Oh they'll offer him a ****load of money to do this. He wont accept, but theyll throw it out there. They have nothing to lose.

LOL imagine we read one day that Bale is a part of Justice League, and they're delaying the Bat reboot big time, with maybe some Nightwing spin-offs taking place with JGL in the meantime. Just how confused and shocked would we all be.

Anything could happen.

Im tired of people saying actors like Gosling and Hamm wont have anything to do with a project like that, anything is possible, the movie industry is so rich and powerful that anything could happen. Sooo much money is involved in that industry. Billions. Thats a lot of influence

Not everyone can be bought. People like Hamm and Gosling have ideas about what kinds of projects they will and won't do, and they've shown little to no interest in anything spandex related. Fawning over them won't change that.

So Bale, Hamm or Fassbender for Batman and Gosling for Flash? I can dream? Awesome.

bale would come back. give him a **** load of money and a director he'd respect, and I'm sure he'd return.

In an interview with Empire magazine, the actor leaves an opening, however small, that another movie could be in his future. He tells the publication, "My understanding is that this is the last one. I think it's appropriate, I think it's going out at the right time. But ... if Chris came to me with a script and said, 'You know what? There is another story' then I would love the challenge of making a fourth one work."

if he comes back, :wow:
