We'll see what happens. I'm a DC supporter myself, but due to the lack of progressive and WB's passiveness, I've hit my breaking point with them until I see an announcement. Until then I remain 'meh' because I fear that they're indecisive on what to do with their properties. But I hope Man of Steel wakes them up.

I think the skepticism is completely warrant, don't you think?

I do think it's warranted because of WB's numerous screwups in the past when it comes to their cbms, especially JL. It's just that I'm relentlessly optimistic about this project because I want to see it happen for 2015, and I see how possible it is to do that if they get the right ingredients this year.

I completely understand why you guys are skeptical of that 2015 date, though.

Also, here's Movielord's quote about speaking with Legendary over the phone regarding the Godzilla SDCC teaser, in case anyone missed it.

I just got off the phone with someone from Legendary (dead serious here, guys) about the matter of the SDCC teaser getting an official release. Here's what I was told. Right now, there are no plans to get this sucker released to the public YET. HOWEVER, they said they might consider doing that once marketing kicks in down the road. I was even able to suggest a possible idea for the release of the video: they could release it on May 16 of this year, exactly one year to the day that the movie itself is suppose to come out! Again, THIS IS NOT A SCOOP. This is just an idea I proposed to them, though what I was told is 100% true. I've done all I can now guys. Now we just sit back and wait and see if we get lucky. Hope this helps!

I don't see why they can't just use that same teaser when Pacific Rim or Man of Steel comes out. Easy marketing.

Richard T. Jones has joined the cast of Legendary’s “Godzilla” reboot helmed by Gareth Edwards.

Aaron Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Bryan Cranston, David Strathairn and Ken Watanabe have already joined the cast.

Legendary’s Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni will produce along with Mary Parent. Max Borenstein, Frank Darabont and Dave Callaham penned the script. Production is currently under way.

Character descriptions, along with other plot details, are under wraps for now but sources say Jones would be playing a military figure. Warner Bros. will handle distribution.

Jones is repped by Buchwald-Fortitude and Luber Roklin Entertainment and just wrapped production on the Fox pilot “The List.”

I also must say that if Minilla isn't in this movie then I doubt it'll be any good. :awesome:

I don't know how we'll this movie is going to work. It's like a solo Hulk movie. People are paying to see the monster. But you can't spend the whole movie with the monster as the main character without breaking the budget. So you focus on the humans, which is usually the boring part.

KICK-ASS as GI-JOE in GODZILLA, also starring infamous meth dealer WALTER WHITE!

They got away with it with Transformers. I actually think a deft touch with Godzilla is better then all Godzilla all the time. Take Jaws for example or even Heath Ledger's Joker.

The horror of Godzilla's attack right after the spectacle should do the trick.

Yeah but people love cheering Godzilla. If you make him this thing of destruction and evil and kill him at the end, you lose the audience. That's the mistake the GINO movie made.

I don't think Godzilla's going to be killed off. This is franchise potential right here, which WB could use.

But that's what he was in the original film.

I agree with you. But I think modern audiences have come to cheer Godzilla. He's not necessarily a hero but not a villain either. I think it's a tough balance.

Actually, even when Godzilla was the villain in his other films, fans and audiences still rooted for him.

For example,

In Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah, Godzilla was destructive and heartless, but you cheered for him because he was the lesser of two evils since Ghidorah was the greater evil. Even when he still continued his rampage and went against Mecha King Ghidorah/Emmy. Was he now the main villain at that point? Sure. Did fans cheer when Godzilla survived at the end of the movie despite knowing that he later on became the film's second villain? Hell yes.

This was of course from the Heisei Series, a series in which Godzilla starts out as a villain and gradually transitions into an Anti-Hero. He doesn't care about mankind, nor does he care about our world. But he sees everything as his own territory, and if a threat more dangerous than humans comes along. He'll handle it before going back to ruining mankind and living out his days.

Legendary is taking Godzilla back to his gritty dark roots of the original, and through Frank Darabont, Godzilla will be a destructive force of nature while being a symbolism for another matter of mankind's faults. With two other monsters being involved, chances are Godzilla will be seen as the lesser of two evils.

He'll still destroy everything, but you'll root for him if it means Godzilla taking out other threats more threatening than himself.

No one cheered for GINO because he wasn't a villain, and wasn't Godzilla at all. Some probably cheered for GINO since he was just portrayed as a tragic creature just trying to nest and trying to avenge his lost offspring.

I wasn't aware there were going to be other monsters in this movie besides Godzilla. If that's the case, then I agree it should be an easier sell. You are correct; he should be portrayed as a hero only in the sense that he's the lesser of two evils.

So, who else is counting the days till we get a set photo of a nice giant foot print?:woot:

This is absolutely huge for hardcore G-Fans. I'm speechless.

Thank you, Legendary!!!!!!!

AKIRA ****ING TAKARADA!!! WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
