Godzilla throwing/*****-slapping them I hope.

Well, as hard as it is for me to argue with that gif. It didn't look like they were slapped. Something more sinister was going on up there, in the clouds...

Yeah, I was mainly messing around, it's possible Godzilla would be involved but I assume it's most likely the flying MUTO up to shenanigans.

I wonder what made the airplanes fall like all air was sucked from under them.
It's possible the flying muto has something inside it that disrupts the avionics of the F-35's that shuts their systems off or that it's massive wing beats created a down draft that sent them hurling to the bay. I did notice that in the trailer if you freeze frame it where that hook leg comes down on top of that building around those soldiers you will notice the rear of it glows red like it has a energy discharge in it. Here is a gif of it. Notice the red energy glow illuminating from it? Or maybe Godzilla just used his atomic breath and zapped him out of the sky and the creature is still absorbed with the energy it was hit with.

Roland Emmerich got served by a 2:20 second trailer and magazine covers.

it's my understanding that the "eerie" music is from 2001 Space Odyssey??

Yes. Look at this photo without trying to hear that "eerie" music in your head.

Oh and btw, Godzilla looks like he's gonna wipe his giant lizard ass with the entire crust of the earth.

One. Mean. Green. Mother. ****er - Samuel L. Jackson

He take craps the size of San Francisco.

First off I absolutely love that Empire cover above, and can confirm so far this is my favorite look of Godzilla that I've seen in live action. I can see now even more so from the trailer and now the magazine cover Edwards saying the face and head is more "bear-like" in appearance which is a direction I really like.

That and his movement might be bear-like as well. It seems they're taking inspiration from real-life animal fights as inspiration for the Kaiju battles in this movie so expect them to be very down and dirty.

This is late in posting, but I've been bogged down with schoolwork: I caught the trailer the minute it hit the internet. I loved it. I hope they maintain the tone of the trailer in the entire film. No camp, no adventure tone, or Jurassic Park sense of awe: I want two hours of adrenaline and fear. If they deliver what was promised in the trailer, Godzilla could easily be one of the best monster films of the millenium.

However, considering this is a Hollywood production, I am going to keep my expectations regulated. Don't get me wrong: I am going to go in excited, but the trailer raised the stakes so high, I don't want to suffer another colossal disappointment, like that I felt when I rewatched a certain DC film recently.

If (and probably) when the film delivers, I will be singing praises on every communication channel.

Using bears as the inspiration for how Godzilla fights is what I am anxious to see.
They are full of aggression, intimidation and power when they fight. The komodos fight in a similar way. Figure they used there tail whips as how Godzilla would use his

I need that magazine cover without all of the text, it will be my full back piece!

Not only will this probably be a damn great movie in its own right but this will be a huge date movie too. Guaranteed.

Godzilla is going to help a lot of young men out on May 16th.

 Here's the original quote from Jim Rygiel:
"We studied real animals, though of course there's nothing that big. But it was interesting to study YouTube videos of Bears fighting and Komodo Dragons fighting.

Basically, compare that x100 and we have a general idea of how they'll play out. Living, breathing natural disasters if you will.

Many were complaining over the lack of marketing. Now over the past few days Legendary/WB have put that to rest. Never thought I would see this much hype coming from the general public and media. Even the ones who were scoffing at the idea of another Godzilla movie and its potential to make money are changing there minds.

Theres been far more hyperbole on the net in real life. I know alot of people who liked the past 2 trailers but they all are timid based on what came before it. One buddy said there even doing the same approach the 98 movie did by not showing him but inhind sight we now know why they didnt show the 98 zilla much because of how bad it looked.

I have a feeling the marketing blitz will go full-stream ahead going forward.

I wouldn't really mind an adventurous tone. Don't me wrong though, if it could blend in with the tension and fear, that'd be great.

Godzilla IS NOT about adventure. Go watch King Kong if you want that. :cmad:

:o

agreed, NextNolan... Godzilla was never supposed to be an "adventure film". Godzilla has always been a horror film.

though i will admit that some of the adventure tones used in the Heisei series was pretty fun, i still want this film to be more horror than adventure. save that for another time

Man, I'm gonna be wearing out my Godzilla DVDs until this bad boy comes out.
