Cranston is as big as Ledger was. While I think Cranston might make a great Luthor. He is not the big name actor that could bring in the GA. Like Heath Ledger go out of the box and get a truly big name...DiCaprio. At first I laughed at the idea of him playing Lex. But, the more I thought about it. It would be great casting. He can play a mid-30's corporate ceo who is horrified and annoyed that this "alien" is upstaging him in his city.
Nice! I got my mother hooked on Breaking BadEven my mother knows him from MITM
I'm going to introduce her to BB.
Billy Zane for the win.
Don't say he sucks!!
Did he give a bad performance in Titanic?
People only say Zane because he's bald. LOL it's a joke. He sucks and he's a has been. If he went through his entire career with hair, people would NEVER in a million years suggest him. Fanboy casting at its best.
Billy Zane is not a has been. You have to actually have been something in the first place to be a has been.
Can't see Cranston as Lex. I don't want Grandpa Luthor. With his cane of Kryptonite... a Kane.
yeah i dont think so ledger was already had an oscar nomination from a highly popular movie before tdkCranston is as big as Ledger was.
George Clooney would make an awesome Lex imo. He's a big star with Oscar cred. He can play suave and charismatic as well as dark and cutthroat. It's not like he's out of shape either. He could convincingly play a man of wealth and intelligence. George Clooney is a man that I could see running for President. Hell, he already played a man running for President in The Ides of March.

Damian Lewis checks all my boxes:
1) Natural redhead
2) Excellent Actor (See Band of Brothers and Homeland)
3) Has experience playing outwardly virtuous all American hero characters, who are secretly dark and violent (Homeland)
4) Tall and athletic
5) Late 30s/Early 40s
6) Currently Bald

How about Mel Gibson? I saw him in the Batman thread and when I thought about him hr seemed like a better fit for Lex. Is this silly?
This just brings back memories form "The Replacements".Billy Zane is not a has been. You have to actually have been something in the first place to be a has been.
It could be genius. The Alien concept of Superman was sort of a euphemism for Jews.
Once Gibson finds this out and is cast, he could give one mighty believable performance as Lex - a man who hates aliens![]()
It should easily be Bryan Cranston.
I know this is out of left field but I honestly think that Tom Cruise could do a great Lex; the reason I say this is because I watched collateral recently and Cruise played this assassin called Vincent who had the perfect balance of ruthlessness and charm, 2 things that lex luthor should always possess. We should also remember that Lex doesn't necessarly have to be evil, I think the lex that was portrayed in "lex luthor:man of steel" could work quite well on film.
If the team decide to add in Metallo to the story then I think Jason Statham could be a great choice.
Tom Cruise would do an awesome job I'm sure.
