BvS Lex Luthor Casting Thread - Part 2

Of the TV actors:

Damian Lewis: I know I said earlier that he would be a good casting for Lex, but I hadn't watched Homeland in a while and now that I watch more of it I realize that Damian Lewis is an awful choice for Lex. There is nothing intimidating about Damian Lewis. When he's angry, he's not intimidating. He is a whiner. He sounds like someone who is annoyed but in no way threatening.

Bryan Cranston: Firstly, let me say that he won't play Walter White in the SuperBat film. He will play Lex. There are glimpses of Lex in Walter White - if you watch the couple of episodes where Walter White is acting with great swagger and villainous intent. It is very rare, but it is there. He will bottle those glimpses and use it for the entirety of the SuperBat film. Plus he knows how to act like he's intelligent (very few can do this). He'd be an outstanding Lex.

Michael C. Hall: This guy is my choice for Lex. And he's very close to Lex when he plays Dexter. Forget the scenes where Dexter is behaving all happy-go-lucky, and just watch the scenes where Dexter is being himself (ruthless killer). That is Lex. Its a combination of calculating, brooding, extremely intelligent, intimidating. In addition, if the SuperBat script ever calls for Lex to time a joke.....Hall is great at that too.

I vote for Hall. He has a youthful face, and I think he would do a great job at coming across as likeable for the general public to accept.

Also, that would leave Cranston for Gordon :woot:

Can we separate a full-body dramatic performance from a comedic CGI racoon's voice though?

I'm not necessarily advocating Cooper, but he does appear to be Lee Bermejo's reference in that piece. And he might as well be onto something, that's certainly the look right there.

Bradley Cooper?

wow that is new level of awesome for bermejo, the guy is a god. But i totally see it, it has bradley cooper written all over it. Right down to the eye color n his signature smirk.

Wow that Lex is Amazing! And it totally looks like Cooper!

Ha yeah that image alone may have just sold me on Cooper. He'd be a big get too, same as Affleck, considering how hot he is in Hollywood and the Academy right now.

Snyder should just mail him that pic as an audition invitation.

yeah that picture really sold me. If he's cast, I hope they are able to make his eyebrows look the way they do in that picture. The big eyebrows are so Lex

Not a criticism of Cooper as such, but if the criteria for casting the role is so superficial that it can be fulfilled by a resemblance in a painting, then we might as well have Billy Zane.

I'm actually starting to think Lex isn't going to be in this thing.

Or at the very least, isn't going to be the villain and doesn't have a large role.

I'd honestly prefer his villain role be saved for a solo sequel.

i don't think It's something he'd do anyway. 1 comic book movie may be enough for him. he seems the gosling( who apparently turned the role of batman down) type. i think leo's out of the question so, I'm on team mcgregor now. pretty good actor who doesn't have his head up his ass about these type of films. the guy still wants in in the new star wars films.

Lex f***ing has to be in this. It would be such a huge letdown if he isn't. Even if he's not the central villain, I don't understand "saving" him again.

Didn't Zack Snyder already say he was in, or at least infer that he was? I don't think we have to worry about Luthor not being in this movie just because we haven't had casting news yet.

as far as Bradley goes, if he can go and do an A-Team movie then CBMs shouldn't be beneath him, imo. I feel like a lot of actors didn't figure they'd do a cbm, until the offer of a lifetime comes along.

Yeah, they implied heavily that Lex would be in the next installment.
