What if Lex just had a minor role in the film, like an extended cameo (Bill Murray in Zombieland length) and there was an a-lister in the role, but it wasn't announced before release?

I still don't want to see Lex in a villainous capacity yet. Set him up as a shady character, as Bruce could discover or already know about. I'd rather they pick a villain who hasn't been in a film yet.

Lex fits better for this film. MOS perfectly set up about eight different ways to use him and the fallout is also the perfect place for him as well.

Lex needs to be the main villain. We've waited long enough for a proper Lex, it'd be way too much of a tease if we saw him in this film and he wasn't a villain. I don't see the point when he's the perfect villain for this film

Lex and Bruce plotting against Superman is a good route to take imo.

Bruce is obviously going to be more on the defensive, whilst Lex is more offensive.
They both have something in common. Bruce genuinely believes Superman to be a potential threat.
If Lex is anything like the brilliant take in Azzarello's conception, he believes it too. But his fear and concern is soon overshadowed by his pure hatred and jealousy.

Lex as the mastermind, Metallo as the villain who commits crimes and frames Supes, and Bruce as the paranoid vigilante who wants to take Batman down at all costs.

In other words, it's the Nolan format from TDKR with different roles. Bruce=Catwoman, Metallo=Bane and Lex is

^ Rightrightright. Show hints of Lex's internal corruption, show Lex publicly condemning Superman after additional superhero attacks, as well his skepticism toward Superman for the aftermath of Metropolis.

Basically, set Lex up as the villain, but have him seem like an anti-hero or side-villain. When he turns out to be the mastermind, let Batman expose him and Lex ultimately escape to join bigger forces

Cranston basically did that with Walter White and Heisenberg.

God he really would be perfect for this...Anyone else is going to be somewhat disappointing

For some reason, that choice would be really disappointing to me. He's a good actor sure, not one of my favorites though. He always seems to play it safe in every role he plays, I've never seen any work of his that amazed me.

I liked him Warrior and The Thing. He can pull off the whole debonair/ruthless businessman a la his performance in The Great Gatsby too.

Mark Strong feels like a too "on-the-nose" type casting choice, i.e., a bit generic and safe. He's an unoriginal pick in my opinion. One other guy I'd like to see in the role would be Matthew McConaughey, but I know a lot of people have thrown his name around a lot

Metallo can only exist with Kryptonite. But we can't be sure right now whether or not it will show up up.

Lex could synthesize it somehow...if he had the knowledge and the actual means.

To be honest. I want Lexcorp to mimic things in real life. Like illegal and unethical experiments, like cloning.
The argument is however. ..if we had Bizarro

It may be too similar with the fight scenes we had with Zod...

I'd love to hear Luthor was only a bit part in MOS.

It'd mean the next solo Superman could be all about the two of them.

Whereas I feel like if he has too big a role in BVS then then they'll wanna go with a totally different villain in the next solo Supes film.

I've been suggesting Joel Edgerton elsewhere, along with McConaughey. That was the first photo of Edgerton where I've seen him bald and felt like sharing it. But, I might as well go ahead and suggest Matt Damon because he was bald in Elysium right?
