Pit can cross his leg over the other and eloquently explain to a board room why the superman problem needs to be dealt with....ignore whom he's speaking with, sip his tea whilst standing at a window over looking his city. Pit can do great work with this material. What's more he can capture the sort of lex that cinema has yet to see, the one that is young(ish), handsome, fit..the uberman of a society that superman's existence belittles.
Lex represents that ugly side of a rising to power(see corporate wallstreet) in a mans world by destroying your competition and earning your keep, whereas superman(in his view) was simply blessed with godhood. The irony is that for all lex's hate and appeal for capitalism(merica), clark kent is a humble farmer from rural america. Clearly I like Morrison. Who else but Brad Pit for that. I'm a fan of this approach which is why I have endorsed the likes of Hamm and DiCaprio. We don't need yet another old bald angry luthor as we have gotten from donner and his uninspired clone. Given we have Affleck and Cavill, a youngish/handsome is luthor of their sort could be really gnarly, then again a cranston type has it's uses as well.
Anyways, the problem I personally have with Pit(outside of the needless salary) is his limited range. For example is there anyone that wouldn't prefer Fassbender? It's in this thought that I hold out hope for a more versatile choice. Take Fassbender's work in First Class, replace it with Pit...cringe.
Is there a single role Pit has done that Fass couldn't handle? No in my opinion.
If only Elba wasn't being wasted in thor, he'd be my ideal for a new Luthor(pun intended). Just as long as he brought back the Stringer bell voice.
Anyways I pointed to Giancarlo after having watched some Revolution. The man has a great posture and a 9mile stare full of pride and disdain. Works for me.
