Giancarlo Esposito

Gus Fring would have actually been a great representation of a modern lex luthor in pretty much every way aside maybe some of the physicality.

With that being said I don't know if they'd wanna get gus frind essentially as their movie villain ala cranston? it would just be a redux of a past role the actor did.

The fact that I was disagreeing with someone else is sufficient indication that not everyone agrees with me, but thanks anyway.

Be careful on these boards. Some would label you a "troll" for having a different opinion about Pitt and whether or not he is a good actor or not. :wow:

Brad Pitt IS a good actor. You may still dislike him, though it doesn't mean he's a bad actor .

I didn't say he was a technically poor actor, just that I find him boring and unappealing.

Further, his strength seems to lie in playing characters who are quite superficial and somewhat meatheaded. That's probably why his caricature in Fight Club was his best role. I think there are many better choices to play Lex Luthor.

and Fight Club
and Twelve Monkeys
and Se7en
and Snatch
and Benjamin Button
and Inglorious Basterds
and Moneyball

Giancarlo Esposito
I am trying to find this guy a role in the DCCU. I loved him in Breaking Bad. So quite and methodical and when he snaped you felt it ! but for Luthor, i don't know. I was thinking the Calendar Man or mr Freeze.

Esposito needs to be in a CBM. I would love to see him as Martian Manhunter or Darkseid. Obviously some makeup or CGI would be needed for either of those, but Esposito could still make it great.

As for Pitt as Lex... I kinda want it to happen just so I can watch people's head explode. I still think he's a great actor, and I don't care if people disagree. His performances in Fight Club, Snatch, Benjamin Button, Inglorious Bastards, 12 Monkeys, Se7en, Moneyball, True Romance, Ocean's 11, Legends of the Fall, Tree of Life and Meet Joe Black show his versatility.

They certainly show the films he has been in.

Pit can cross his leg over the other and eloquently explain to a board room why the superman problem needs to be dealt with....ignore whom he's speaking with, sip his tea whilst standing at a window over looking his city. Pit can do great work with this material. What's more he can capture the sort of lex that cinema has yet to see, the one that is young(ish), handsome, fit..the uberman of a society that superman's existence belittles.
Lex represents that ugly side of a rising to power(see corporate wallstreet) in a mans world by destroying your competition and earning your keep, whereas superman(in his view) was simply blessed with godhood. The irony is that for all lex's hate and appeal for capitalism(merica), clark kent is a humble farmer from rural america. Clearly I like Morrison. Who else but Brad Pit for that. I'm a fan of this approach which is why I have endorsed the likes of Hamm and DiCaprio. We don't need yet another old bald angry luthor as we have gotten from donner and his uninspired clone. Given we have Affleck and Cavill, a youngish/handsome is luthor of their sort could be really gnarly, then again a cranston type has it's uses as well.

Anyways, the problem I personally have with Pit(outside of the needless salary) is his limited range. For example is there anyone that wouldn't prefer Fassbender? It's in this thought that I hold out hope for a more versatile choice. Take Fassbender's work in First Class, replace it with Pit...cringe.
Is there a single role Pit has done that Fass couldn't handle? No in my opinion.

If only Elba wasn't being wasted in thor, he'd be my ideal for a new Luthor(pun intended). Just as long as he brought back the Stringer bell voice.

Anyways I pointed to Giancarlo after having watched some Revolution. The man has a great posture and a 9mile stare full of pride and disdain. Works for me.

I'm confident that Snyder will cast the right man for the role, Snyder knows how to cast.

That is why I think the McConagheys or Pitts would actually be good choices for Lex Luthor.

They can bring the charm and charisma of a big time coporate/tech leader of Metropolis who could be a friend/contemporary/rival of Afflecks Bruce Wayne. The public persona would be well liked, but then it would be potnetially great to see their bad/dark side of Lex unfold. Could be chilling.

Any actor worth their salt could do that.

What about Elba's compatriot from The Wire, Aiden Gillen?

His part in TDKR may have been pants, but nobody does sly like that guy.

Oh I remember him. Serviceable.

Not a big enough draw though. I think whoever gets cast as Lex needs to be able to garner even more buzz and interest to BvsS

Maybe. I would rather have an actor who hasn't been massively overexposed, though. Affleck is already very well known, and to an extent I feel that's enough. I find it very boring too see the same actors all of the time.

Having said that, I also like the suggestion of Daniel Craig.

. . .

Where was the pun?

He played a different character named Luthor in an eponymous British TV series.

Brad Pitt as Lex?

gotta say, i like that idea

could totally see him pull it off
