Superman Returns Lex Luthor's True Characterization Expanded On (Hes not doing a homage to Hackman)

Of course, which isn't neccessarily a bad thing. As long as there is a balance. I don't mind being entertained with some comedic lines from Lex, or comedic situations...as long as he is still at heart a dark and sinister and threatning villain. Every line people have claimed to be campy, looks as if it fits the situation, and as a shock...they are all actually funny. Some, he isn't even being flamboyant and they work. I.E. "Wait for it..." (love that one)

I didn't think that they were, but to each his/her own.

If they just would have went with the corporate Lex Luthor that has been present the last 20 years in comics and tv series ( the real Luthor ), this whole arguement would have null and void because we would be getting the definitive Lex. But instead, here we are.......

We still don't know exactly WHAT Luthor we are getting. Will he be in the public eye at all? I mean, he got out of prison. Maybe he's a slight political figure with a following that Superman is this alien that can't be trusted thus being able to represent the corporate Luthor as well... not just hiding goof Luthor.

I hope you know that there will be in 50 times more serious Lex than campy.

Again, that is your opinion. He isn't insanely giggiling, while killing people etc. Even so, his character actually reminds me of Jack Nicholson from B89. Hopefully it will create the same amount of success for this movie.

I don't see why you people want a Lex that disregards 20 years of comic history, a history that created one of the best villians in comic history only to be reduced to again throwing out jokes on the big screen, no matter how " dark and twisted " he is. Say what you will about the Animated Series and Smallville, but atleast they both got Lex right.
