So what's the status on this movie?

yeah...where's the news?

None at the moment unless you count John Campea once again saying MMPR is dumb and everything from the 80's is so much better and should be a movie instead.

The good news however is that Justin Kroll from Variety(so it's legit) says that Lionsgate is in fact casting people and it's not in development hell.

Skip to about 43 min and just let it play:

There's a part of me who thinks some of the films slated for 2016 will be moved to 2017, and I don't know if Power Rangers will a part of that 'move'. I really think Beverly Hills Cop 4, which is SUPPOSE to be coming out in April 2017 still doesn't have a finalized script, or production updates.

Power Rangers needs to have some news by April at least. Remember, pre-production (like any state of production) cannot be rushed, esp for a film like this.

^ We're moving the goalposts to April now? I remember when it was August... the "We have to hear something by early December"... Then it was January.

Just... come on, movie. :( :p

Part 2 thread and still not much big or new :(

Well tell that to the folks who regularly posted on the BVS thread from 2013-2014 even now as they still have a full year to post about random things.

I personally enjoy the build up to a film where we can speculate and discuss how we think they should go about making it.

Right now the only thing I'm most concerned about is the director. The cast doesn't have to be anything vastly special. Honestly I wouldn't mind Joe Johnston doing it if they were going for a more seasoned guy as opposed to someone more fresh.

Ezra Miller is The Flash, Tye Sheridan is Cyclops, Kodi Smit-McPhee is Nightcrawler and Logan Lerman is a top candidate for Spider-Man.

Is there a chance that Power Rangers will get the same kind of talent?

It could be. Should Insurgent fizzles out, I can see LGF moving it to Allegiant - Part 2's spot in March 2017.

Or if they still want a 2016 release, maybe fall 2016.

Maybe it's old news, but Super Sentai Zyuranger is out on DVD.

I wonder if it was Shout! Factory that sent Zack Stentz and Ashley Miller those DVD-Rs of "Zyuranger" months ago...

If there's a good director involved. Someone like Matthew Vaughn would be great!(I've been saying that even before Kingsmen: The Secret Service)

If you look hard enough, there are people that do want to be in a Power Rangers movie like Robbie Amell(although it'll never happen).

If you had to pick one character that the movie would have its main focus on who would you pick?

It should probably be Jason, if they're going to focus on the main five for the first movie.

I'm watching a couple of episodes of "Zyuranger" and aside from the inherent Japanese goofiness (like the 'Seven Faces of Princess Mei' episode), they could mine some of the Japanese episodes for character arcs. They don't have to follow the U.S. episodes completely, just the broad strokes.

Yeah it should feel like it's in Jason's point of view as much as The Avengers was in Captain America's point of view or at least whoever the relatable everyman of the group so maybe Billy?

Also, I just posed this question to folks over at Rangerboard and just to compare responses: How attractive do you want your Rangers? Personally I think they'll be looking into whoever the CW likes to get.

I think it could work if you made the red ranger and green ranger brothers but have it so we think tommy has been killed at the start which makes the red ranger want revenge only to discover at the end that tommy had actually been kidnapped and brain washed

^ From what I remember, there's a touch of Lost Galaxy in that idea, yes?
