They probably first saw the concept art you're referring to and of course jump straight to conclusions. "Ranger is in black so their suits must be black!"

I don't see how anyone can think they're going to go with black suits when we have a black ranger...

I trust the guys who tweeted that, know their stuff. I don't rust the the director & studio right now. I get a Fox like feeling from them regarding a property like this. We'll still get colours on it but it's mostly black. That's what I'm reading it as. Again I would be extremely happy if they release the official photos and they are the colours we all know and love.

If the suits were gonna be mostly black with barely any color, there would be no point in calling the rangers by their color. Plus we have a black ranger, I'd his suit gonna be just straight black with no other color details. I doubt it, they said "dark and edgy" as in darker versions of the colors. At least that's what I got out of it.

I really hope so gents. I'd rather brace myself for disappointment and be pleasantly surprised, than the other way around. Some studios/directors really have no idea what they are doing when it comes to properties like these. We don't need that Adi Power Rangers crap.

Well, as you can see I'm new here but I just want to clear the air on this current topic. First, that concept art from last year had that Pink Ranger in it as a place holder to display the scale of the zord next to a human. It's nothing new when it comes to concept art.

Secondly, RC is a reliable source and they are currently at NY Toy Fair and those comments came from an interview with a Bandai Rep (Bandai does PR toys). I don't know what about those comments made you think the suits are gonna be straight black though. The reference to Robocop was probably was more about visual look as opposed to color scheme as the reboot suit was noticeably 'darker and edgier' than it's predecessor.

If there was anything you should've taken from the Bandai Rep's comments it's that the colors on the suit just won't be as bright as we're used to. They'll probably be more muted because it really wouldn't make sense to have black suits when there's already a black ranger.

As always, keep in mind the "dark, edgier" comment is one person's opinion about the suits. It doesn't mean it's a fact. You may feel differently when the suits are finally revealed.

Same here, but I'm on the cautious side of things. It's funny how everything seems to be starting at the end of this month. February has been a long and gruelling month so far. One thing though, how come everyone is expecting us to see the suits by the end of this month? What if they are shooting on a sound stage, which I'm fairly certain they will.

Someone tweeted that they are using their house for the movie, so it looks like there will be actual on location sets (Of course). I'm expecting to see the suits sooner than later, considering a lot of studios want to get ahead of leaked images these days. Will it be the end of the month... no because filming literally starts on the last day of the month. Maybe by April is when we'll see them, I hope.

Yeah fingers crossed. I'm thinking the majority of the scenes (in costumes) will be shot in studio due to the Zord set pieces, command centre and such. Don't forget that if the movie is supposed to be taking place in summer, that's not exactly the right weather yet in Vancouver. Could be that they film those scenes later in the summer as well. Time will tell. The helmets better look kickass. That's the most important part of the suit to get right, in my opinion.

One thing we should consider when they say "Darker and Edgier" we have to consider that they're using a Nickelodeon kid's show targeted at 5-10 years old typically and has this sort of aesthetic:

For the budding cosplayer, can anyone teach me how I can make this sort of armour?
