Live Action 'Dumbo'

I really want to like this movie but being an animal lover, I just cannot support a movie that has animals performing in a circus.

Sorry, I just don't think it's right. It makes me sick in the stomach that this movie glorify animals performing in a circus as a form of entertainment.

Animals are subjected to cruelty, torture and abuse while being trained to perform in a circus.

PETA should be protesting against this.

Sorry, I won't be watching this in cinema. Not going to give my money to a movie that showcases the exploitation of animals.

If you are an animal lover, do consider boycott this movie. Otherwise you are just a hypocrite.

I don't necessarily identify as an animal lover, so I guess I'm safe!

I mean, I don't know about this one but the original movie wasn't exactly pro-circus...

Just the trailer of this one looks pretty anti-circus. You know, since they separate him from his mother and everything clearly in the trailer, and the guy Michael Keaton plays is clearly Evil Mr. Moneybags.

maybe you are just overreacting, it doesn't showcase the exploitation, if there is any abuse in this film, it would be shown in a bad light and it's not a real circus, for all you know this circus, which is fictional, is a perfectly good circus and has nothing to do with abuse, it's a movie, it doesn't have to go in tune with what real circuses do, it's fiction, and it doesn't glorify animals performing in a circus as a form of entertainment, where is it entertainment? people aren't watching it for the circus, their watching it for Dumbo, you're just acting ridiculous, people have to make an issue out of everything, and if you really have such a problem with it, don't see it, no one asked you to, but don't inflict your opinion on people who may like it, and certainly don't call us hypocrites, just cause you don't like it, that's just not fair.

I'm an animal lover and that's bull. Where are you getting that this film is glorifying animals performing in a circus? It's exploitation, it always was. The humans in the original were the "bad" ones. Consider the time period as well. You need to educate yourself on the intention of the film.

Do you have a single clue about the story of Dumbo?

It doesn’t exactly “glorify” the circus.

Take your drivel somewhere else.

This new trailer got me more interested in it than I previously was. I might actually check this out now, but this one looks like a tearjerker for sure.

I hope Elfman brings his A-game to this one. Plus, it's nice to see Rick Heinrichs on this... he always does beautiful work.

Say what you want about The Last Jedi, but his production design was flawless.

I’m happy for the Batman/Penguin reunion. Now if only Michelle Pfeiffer and Christopher Walken make cameos.

I honestly think they made Colin Farrell look creepier in that poster than Dumbo.

This disappoints me:

Dumbo is held partly aloft by Tim Burton's visual flair, but a crowded canvas and overstretched story leave this live-action remake more workmanlike than wondrous.

Doesn't surprise me. The trailers weren't that great and the embargo lifted very late.
Was kind of expecting a result like this.

Burton needs to do something original again, these adaptations need to stop.

I am not shocked either. I was holding out a sliver of hope though, LOL

Had a feeling this would be a mixed bag. I'll probably check it out next week still

Well, Disney is already moving along by dumping all their Endgame character posters :funny:

I'm not too surprised at the low rating because I know very few people, if any who actually like the original Dumbo. But I was expecting this to do slightly better than Aladdin based on the original teasers. Maybe this will end up being the worst Disney film of the year and not Aladdin.

Oh well, that’s a shame.
