Ok, a bit more colorful than the teaser and tv spot but I’m still not feeling it. Halle’s singing is good— she’s in Jodi Benson’s range— not feeling her dialogue delivery though.

Melissa is definitely channeling Divine as Ursula and not trying to imitate the great Pat Carroll— she’s pretty good!

Love it had a smile the whole time. Halle looks and sounds great. Awkwafinas voice works perfect for Scuttle lol. Melissa looks and sounds great herself. And Sebastian is actually kinda cute.

At least the underwater scenes in this movie look better than Wakanda Forever's.

While the incels will be whining about clamshells, I think the true tragedy is the loss of shirtless Triton.

Not necessarily feeling McCarthy in the role. Doesn't seem to be purple, just seeing a lot of color affecting how Ursula looks in her few shots. Got a good cackle, though.

Halle looks good. Definitely looks to be able to do the facial expressions needed for her parts on land.

Scuttle and Sebastan's looks kind of took me by surprise. NGL, Sebastian looks hilarious.

The Under the Sea sequence looks to be terrific visually.

They seem to be doing a lot I like, so we will see how it shapes up.

Well, this looks not-so-good. But Halle looked ridiculously good presenting the trailer so there's that.

The trailer is cute and the movie looks fun, I am disappointed that almost everything is from the leaked trailer in January; although I guess it's my fault for looking at the leak in the first place. To be honest nothing from the trailer looks any different from the leak vfx wise so it seems they have just been sitting on this trailer for some reason.

Finally a black princess that's not a frog for half the movie.

And the trailer hits the right beats from the original. So fingers crossed.

I’m feeling this much more now. Halle Bailey sounds great, Javier Bardem looks great, Melissa McCarthy is also looking surprisingly fitting. I was worried she wouldn’t suit the character, but she looks to be doing a really good job. The colors were definitely more vibrant in this trailer, and the Under the Sea and Kiss the Girl sequences both look good. Maybe it’s just nostalgia because we had this on VHS so I obsessively watched this the most out of all the Disney movies but I’m actually looking forward to this.

Though I’m still iffy on the super realistic animated characters.

Still not liking the way the underwater stuff looks, but the most pleasant surprise for me in this trailer was McCarthy. I don't know what I expected - I guess just Melissa McCarthy having fun vamping it up - but she seems to be putting in a genuine performance as Ursula, one that seems to be seriously attempting to be true to the original, and I honestly didn't expect that from her at all. Bailey sounds great. Still hate this choice for Eric. Can't tell if this movie will be any good or not, but it will make a billion.

I found the underwater imagery to be quite impressive. Of course, it’s all highly unrealistic: the illumination levels, the color saturation and the “viz” (a scuba term for visibility distance) are all way too good. But (newsflash! ) this is a lighthearted musical fantasy. And I wouldn’t expect the verisimilitude of, say, The Abyss. So I’m kinda puzzled by some of the complaints. The current “artifice level” isn’t high enough...? Folks want more artifice?
