The Amazing Spider-Man Lizard's New Look: Verdict?--POLL

What did you think of his appearance?

  • PERFECT! It's the character come to life!

  • THAT'S the Lizard?! Mini-godzilla without the coat?

  • Can't tell yet. He wasn't in the trailer enough.

  • Where's Venom?!

  • It seems ok.

Lmaol, I never thought how weird the snout would look if he was talking... jesus f-ing christ that would have been awfulk lol. Seeing the big snout moving up and down while talking. Wtf? Glad the snout is so small now.

So he will look more like this:

If that iguana had a human head then yes.

He wouldn't talk once he is fully transformed into the animal. That is why most of us were hoping for stages of transformation and then him ultimately being a beast with no remorse.

Any chance of them stretching his face out before the movie comes out?

clearly it is you who needs glasses (or better ones), or are purely ********ting yourself for whatever fanboyish reason.

1. I've outlined the lips. Here, they're as human as ever and don't stretch to the sides like a reptile. You fail.

Hey paced...do you see his lips in the bottom picture? They stretch, don't they?

2. Human-like nose. Nothing reptilian. Or scary/freaky-looking. Again.

3. Human-like eyes from the outside. Ditto from number 2. Except its pupils that we've seen change into an animalistic one of course.

4. Human-like head. Just like any other bald *****e you see. Wow, really, really awesome design there.

And please shut up about any of it being "venom like" already, for the umpteenth time you've said it. Shut up.

This is how Venom looks:

now tell me how in the hell does the movie's Lizard's face look like that? The only explanation I have for your claim is extreme stupidity, or fanboyism.

But just for objective argument's sake I will say that this image does give some hope that the Lizard may have at least a somewhat reptilian face:

but it's just too bad the quality is horrible. (still credit and respect to whoever took the photo at SDCC)

Ok, I don't want this to turn to a major fight, I'll try to say my point reasonably

1. In this pic you can clearly see how the mouth opens:
thelizardmouth.png

I don't know how you couldn't see it from the other pic, but here it should be clear as daylight
2. That is your opinion, I personally like the mutated human nose
3. I meant just the pupils when I said the eyes were reptilian, and what comes to the eye surroundings, he is only a half lizard so I enjoy him with the human elements. And ok I just noticed that his eyes are not surrounded by pink, his eyes are just closed in the pic. Still looks good though
4. That again is an opinion, I really like the human head shape with the mouth opening on the sides. And that his

And when I said that it's "venom-like" I meant Spider-man 3 venom, not the one from original comics. While it's not exactly the same thing, it is very simular.

Now I don't want to fight about this, and I really don't mind people that don't like the design, but when a guy doesn't get what it actually looks like and then blames the design it kinda pisses me off

In short, you probably now see what I mean, and I'm not saying that the movie design is radically different from the art, it's actually quite simular, but those elements that show in the trailer/movie really changes how the over all design works and make it looks awesome imo

Can't believe nobody else notices that he's wearing a coat in the underwater pic. It's in shreds tho

Does he get bigger in the movie?

The picture of him in the bathroom stall , he looks about average size , maybe a little bigger

But the photo of him under water , he looks hug !! , twice the size of Spider-man

You like the new Spider-Man outfit that is not comic accurate but love this Lizard because he was a Romita drawing? That makes no sense. There have been many iterations of all the villains over the years. Bendis made a Hulk Goblin but that doesn't mean it doesn't suck and no one can complain that it sucks. This Lizard sucks and I do not like that Romita representation either. His head looks exactly like Thing from F4. One thing that had never really changed much over the years is Spidey's outfit....aside from all the special suits or AU.

Hating on something that's accurate to the comics by saying its not accurate to the comics makes no sense either.

Made me realize they took the easy way out. It would have been much harder and yet more interesting to make a fearsome beast try to form words, but instead they took the path of lower resistance and gave him a human face to make it easier on themselves. Could be for budget reasons. I dunno. Usually, when they talk about "humanizing" a villain or some sort of creature by making it more normal looking, it means lack of effort and imagination. Iron Man didn't need to show RDJ's face during the action scenes to give the hero personality. It was one of the things, Favreau talked about before release. How they shouldn't simplify or betray the design to make it easier for audiences to see his face and how they'd show shots from inside the helmet instead. Here it feels like they were afraid that their Lizard wouldn't be effective or relatable, so they give him that stupid face instead of relying on the strength of their script.

I love The Lizard. It's a shame, he'll be seen as a Goomba for years until the next reboot.

I don't think anyone has done that in here in regards to the Lizard.

I don't see how it's a goomba. To me it's Steve Ditko's Lizard true and true. How is it not Ditko's Lizard? Iron Man - we're used to seeing men behind masks talk. We're not used to, other than from Jim Henson movies and effects, seeing giant lizards talking about wanting to end the world. And to those saying they don't want him to talk - we'll enter a debate here with people on both sides as well - having grown up on the 90s cartoon and that being THE Lizard to me, I'd be BEYOND disappointed if he didn't talk.

He talks! Here's his voice (at least for now):

He looks beastly just like he should, makes a perfect physical challenge for Spidey, I mean I dont know what some people expected a slightly taller and scrawny looking lizard?
