It almost makes you wonder how F4 ended up crashing and burning so badly when they have stuff like this blossoming?

fox executives were stupid enough to listen to Josh Trank's pitch and he was incompentent and didn't know what he wanted.granted Kinberg as writer didn't help.So far fox hasn't made mistake of hiring someone like trank again.

The reshoots where last third of FF was reshoot and they also tweaked other parts of film were after fox panacked.if it's true kinberg directed the reshoots
that should disqualfy him from directing supernova.

I want to read these reviews, but I don’t want to spoil it so it’s going to be a long two weeks...

Toby Kebbell or whatever his name is said Trank's version of the film was better than what actually came out, so I believe it was Fox's interference that derailed the quality of the movie. It is fact Fox is notorious for interfering with production.

thing is while reviews are great it's closer to end of era the end of hugh as wolverine.the X related films just won't be same without both Hugh and wolverine.

They've had two bad Marvel CBMs this decade. Like them or not, they've been more on the good side than bad side - occasionally striking greatness. They've learned from their mistakes and hopefully we'll continue to be more good than bad.

that apocalypse movie killed all my hope in Fox. I can't say how much I disliked it, almost killed my love for X-men. And I personally dont share that Fox should take credit for both this and Deadpool. Specially Deadpool. That was not their movie. It was all Reynolds and Miller. And this is likely all Jackman (as his final one), Stewart (his likely last one as Professor X) and Mangold.

X-men's are great when Fox doesnt have any majory input in this movies. And let director and actor do whatever the hell they want.

trying to blame fox and not trank for FF is easy way out.everything points to fox panacking after they saw rough cut of FF>Fox probally should have just let trank release his version.

among those who say FF was ok not great but not terrable is the bleif the first 2 thirds show promise but the final third which was totally reshot possibly by Kinberg is where it falls apart.it's not just fox which interfears with films production.Surcide squad is exhit a in warner brothers

I accidentally clicked the spoiler thread thinking i was in the news and discussion thread and got the ending spoiled. :(

Oh well, still HYPED beyond belief! Can't wait to see this in two weeks. :woot::woot:

Mark Hughes and his hyperbole never fails to make me laugh. He thinks Logan could be the first superhero movie to get best picture nomination.

If TDK didn't get it, nothing will.

this is kind of ridculas statement.fox is the studio that released deadpool.as is logan.

fox hired first time director miller for deadpool and allowed pre deadpool box office poison reynolds play deadpool.

They put 58 million in deadpool and 129 million In Logan.Fox isn't in charity business.they took chances on both of these films.

Yeah I mean, the studio deserves props on this one. They completely went against the grain of what a studio is supposed to do with a big name IP like this. They moved out the way and let Mangold and Jackman do what they want and took a gamble and its paying off. From what I hear in the reviews there is no third act meddling in this so they trusted Mangold to do his thing with their precious Wolverine.

Was TDK nominated for golden globe ?
Because Deadpool was !!!

It wasn't. I believe Deadpool was the first superhero movie to get a Globe Best Picture nomination (albeit in the less crowded comedy/musical category)

Times have changed. Superheroes are a lot more ubiquitous now than they were even in 2008. Anybody who is anybody or wants to be latches him or herself onto a superhero property. Given enough time and exposure one just might slip through the Oscar threshold.

I'd still be skeptical about a Best Picture nomination. But the biggest advantage now is the academy expanded the number of best picture nominees from a set five when Dark Knight came out, to 5-10 nominees determined by a mathematical formula (this year had nine nominees for instance)

The biggest thing against Wolverine is that it releases early in the year. The old men who vote in the Oscars will forget about it.

Tom Rothman picking Josh Trank and then the current execs panicking at the distaster he help seeded.

Never say never...but best picture for Oscars?
Birdman's still pretty damn recent as such an obvious allegory.

Not impossible, though. Grand Budapest Hotel came out really early in 2014 but got a pretty decent number of nominations and actual Oscar wins in 2015.

Which I still don't completely understand, but that's another topic.

a big problem for oscars is they often look down at genre films.it's still amazing return of the king swept the 2003 oscars.

If Heath Ledger hadn't tragicly overdosed they might have completly snubbed dark knight.

Arguably the 3 best X-Men flicks have been directed by someone other then Singer. Please no more Singer.

Actually X men 2 and dofp are directed by singer.
Even the first X men was directed by singer.
He is pretty much the reason of this superhero bloom today !!!
So, stop complaining please.

And I like those movies. But First Class and Deadpool are a lot better films imo. And so was the Wolverine until the final act. Looks like Logan didn't make the mistakes of the Wolverine. Singer's antiquated methods of handling the X-Men is no longer something they need to tie themselves to.
