It got an A- Cinema Score.

X2, DOFP, and Deadpool remain the only X Films with an A score.

So it got the same Cinema score as Apocalypse.

Apparently there was thought into putting sabertooth in the movie but it didn't happen

“There was a moment when we were thinking about, as I recall, Jim [Mangold] had an idea where when they were on the run, and they go to the gambling town, there may have been at that point they were going to see [Sabertooth] for help. He was going to be there for help. Now that you mention it! I wouldn’t swear to it, but we thought that would have been an interesting thing to do. And then for whatever reason we didn’t do it.”

Yeah, I read that elsewhere. Wonder if that had anything to do with Hugh and Liev's twitter exchange a while back about asking Liev back? I was never sure if they were just joking around.

Though the casino scene did feel like it would have been a good opportunity to have a cameo and with Mangold recently making ambigious comments about whether there would be any (rather than outright letting us know there wasn't any) I was kinda hoping we would see someone. Though with it being a casino I would have liked to have seen an older Gambit.

Liev also recently congratulated Hugh on Twitter and thanked him for working together on the franchise.

I personally think it is an almost obsessive bit of brand loyalty. The fact that Marvel isn't personally making them, and Fox is doing it out of a license, creates a sense of it being a "cheat" to some fans.

But if you just view them all as movies, yes, Fox has made three of the best five superhero movies in the last five years. Of course, that is my opinion, but it takes a real bias to ignore the quality of First Class, DOFP, Deadpool, and Logan to me. Even The Wolverine is better than any DCEU film and a number of MCU entries.

I'm not saying you have to like them better than MCU or DCEU (though you should in the latter's case). Just the way folks write them off in fan communities always seems strange.

As usual spot on DA Crowe, I like the Marvel movies es but the extreme fanboy is that goes with them annoys me to no end.

Personally though for me the MCU hasn't made anything as good as DOFP or Logan. Or X2 for that matter.

Liev is a great guy and he wasn't bad Sabretooth - it was effects that were bad - but I dunno. I kinda like the movie the way it is.

Screenwriter Michael Green says earlier versions of the script included flashbacks that would have spelled out the Westchester incident, but the team decided to cut it.

"It actually hits home a lot harder than the versions that really painted out specifically the flashback," Green tells Heat Vision. "Of course there are versions we wrote that were never filmed with the actual flashback of what happened, but I’ve found the experience of watching it is far more poignant to just know that it was something really regrettable and it was bad and most likely, friends were lost. Or maybe it was people we didn't know."

Viewers are left to make their own conclusions, but it seems as though Charles had an incident and ended up [BLACKOUT]accidentally killing some of his own X-Men family.
[/BLACKOUT]
"Was it Logan? Was it Charles? It was probably Charles but he doesn’t know. He has no memory; he has no recollection," Stewart says. "He has an instinct, an impulse, that something happened and it was bad."

Director James Mangold says the decision to cut the flashback a simple one: "I wanted to make a movie less about information and more about character."

"Nothing will be better than going online and reading fan theories about what happened at the end because I want to hear that version," says Green. "I know what I think happened, I even know what did happen, but it doesn’t matter, because what’s canonized here is the emotional effect of things."

Thank god those flashbacks weren't included. I think that would have been wildly unnecessary and too much.

Yeah not seeing it makes it 10 times more effective. [BLACKOUT]When Charles was saying how he doesnt deserve a good life and how they never talk about it was powerful stuff, seeing it happen would have diluted that impact I feel.[/BLACKOUT]

I think it would've worked in a Prologue scene. Show one of the surviving X-men instructing Logan to get Charles as far away from civilization as possible. Then show "1 year later" and start the movie as it is now.

While I enjoyed Logan and would put it in my top 10 CBMs of all time I can't help but get peeved that people have to make some sort of comparison to the MCU. They both aim for different things and accomplish different things. Logan is a great film but I see myself watching GotG and TWS more and it's no slight on Logan but rather what I enjoy out of a CBM. I guess I don't see why anyone has to bring the MCU into this, they've made solid to great films and Fox knocked it out of the park with Logan, can't we be happy that good CBMs are becoming the norm?

Honestly... this movie just blew me away. Emotional, heart-felt, intense, brutal and sincere.

I applaud Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart on what should be considered Oscar-worthy performances (but we know they never will). This franchise will miss them dearly... but walking away and leaving us with this is the right thing to do.

I was 10 when X-Men opened. It was so nice to see these two on the screen together one last time.

One of the best things about this movie? No love interest.

It was kind of cool watching this movie right behind the D-box seats. Essentially got a lesser version of D-box for free.

Just talked the wife into seeing it again on Tuesday! ($5 movie/free popcorn day at our local theater.) Cannot wait!!

HAHAHAHAHAHA! Even the director thinks El Mayimbe's a hack!

A great director AND he shuts down the rumor mill? Mangold really is a treat to this franchise.

I saw this earlier. Love it and he's 100% right. Mangold said there wasn't a post-credit scene with Deadpool & he wouldn't be in the movie... which was absolutely correct

umberto is such fraud and he replied to mangold saying he was playing semantics lol

sorry but reporting deadpool has a cameo in logan then saying oh no its now a post credits scene

when in actuality it was just a trailer for deadpool 2 thats not playing semantics thats just flat out false reporting
