Incredible breakdown of the visual effects.

Keen wasn't allowed into the casino even for filming purposes so they had to use a stunt double and green screen compositing. Movie making can be silly and needlessly expensive.

That part in particular I find interesting, even for filming purposes, that Keen wasn't allowed in, but hey, fooled me. All this FX stuff coming out so soon- I figured stuff like this didn't come out until close to a home release.

Cool article. So 'Pine Cone Girl' was X-23's stunt double.

Listening to this interview with Mangold and I'm really liking it. To give a bit of Cliffnotes:

  • He talks about how Jackman had felt a bit dissatisfied not necessarily with the X-Men films, but how he hadn't been given much of a chance to fully immerse in the character the way we eventually got with Logan.
  • Fox's hesitation with taking a risk.
  • Mangold pitching this a bloody Little Miss Sunshine. And Fox seemed to be on board with this idea even before Deadpool came out.
  • Marvel Studios' gross for their films doesn't make them free of criticism- he does praise Iron Man and the first Guardians, though. The world spawned from Marvel Studios, though, feels repetitive to him.
  • A lot of films, not just superhero films, aren't movies, but bloated exercises in two hour trailers for another movie that a studio will sell in two years.
  • Character arcs in most films being condensed to a few minutes.
  • People probably know this already, but Mangold wasn't allowed to use existing X-Men comics, so that's where Quesada came on board. Partially could be due to Marvel not wanting to help since they don't own all of their properties, as we see with Sony and Fox.

Among other things. It's a really good listen. And Mangold liked a Tweet I said about the interview...that was interesting.

Finally watched the movie. It was really really good movie. I liked it, but not maybe as much as hype was for it after reviews, both by critics and audience response. 8/10 is my score. It was really perfect acting performances movie from all cast, felt really small, dramatic and intense on moments. I even enjoyed a villain. But for me ended up something missing, maybe a score to get the movie epic feel. Yup this is likely one of those movies where you felt score, and maybe a theme needed to elevate certain moments and make it iconic to put movie in special place as one of those movies. But this was certainly best Wolvie movie we got, and decent goodbye to certain characters.

Just two my cents.

The score is literally my only problem with this film. What a shame Martinez didn't end up doing the music

Just out of curiosity - what about the film's score did you guys dislike? I found myself loving the score from the moment it started right after the opening scene of the film. I personally felt it fit the tone perfectly and had a Western/mysterious/intriguing feel to it that really blended well with the film's subtleness and emphasized the pain and suffering of each character. I think of "Main Titles" as Logan's heartbeat to some degree.

I usually notice the music and I like when some pieces stay with me, even in something with subtle score like Prisoners I rewatched last week there where moments were I really paid attention to music, noticing how well done the score was and how much it added to the movie. Here nothing stood out in a good way. One time I even thought 'oh no' when those jarring sounds starred playing in the final fight scene, it was so distracting. Also there was no memorable main motive in the music

Took two friends who don't really like science fiction elements in their movie (let alone comic book movies :oldrazz:) to see Logan. They absolutely loved it and now want to dig into some of the other 9 movies. Evil. Plan. Accomplished.

Managed some free time to go see this today and really liked it.

I found it incredibly sad how Charles basically became the ultimate villain by accidentally X-Men and thought that worked better than Wolverine doing it which would've been harder to manage compared to Charles power level. He being left as a frail and bitter guy was great too, Patrick Stewert gave his best performance as Charles in this movie IMO. His death was shocking as hell how it came about, overall I wasn't psyched with X24. I'd have preferred they enlist Sabertooth or Daken or made Omega Red to deal with Wolverine as X24 seems to be regressive in the old 'Wolverine is the one Mutant they constantly want to emulate' way.

I loved the scene where Laura said she had nightmares of being hurt while Logan had nightmares of hurting others.

His redemption was great, it's just a shame that when they buried Charles he couldn't manage to open up then as I felt bad for Laura as she did but he didn't reciprocate.

I wasn't a fan of Laura speaking Spanish as i waited for her to open up and talk and then when she did most of what she said I couldn't understand when I was really looking forward to her first words.

The action was incredible and In the woods when he injected himself and they battled together that was awesome, I loved how his roar was heard before seeing him as it was like the hero reveal moment before the reveal.

I commend the filmmakers for showing X23 and the kids be handled so roughly as that almost would never be allowed to happen in most movies and after all they weren't just kids but dangerous what with their powers. Though when Laura was fighting with X24 they copped out in showing her getting slashed up like Wolverine was. There was a moment when X24 slashed at hit her but it was a clunk sound instead of a slice sound. I mean she slaughtered tons of guys never really saw her get cut up or damaged as the gunfire was all kindof a blur, doing so would've made it more realistic IMO.

It would've been good if one or two of the enhanced Reavers were women as it was just men being slaughtered left and right, even if their villains, as Logan says 'same thing'

I thought they handled Logan's weak and old stature really well too, his adamantium poising was ideal really for that and his almost depressed outlook was done really well too, it came across that he was just waiting down the clock and part of his not wanting to get involved was he ep was just sick of killing and the drama of getting involved.

Their plan to go off on the ocean wasn't feasible as they'd need food ect, so it was IMO most like a sailing off into the sunset suicide type of plan.

The only thing I really missed in terms of adaption was I wanted Logan's not to have pooped his claws in years and for their to be a big moment like in "Old Man Logan" when he did so

He was. Humans basically wiped out Mutantkind with the additives in the corn syrup. The X3 prophecy of forcing the cure was fulfilled

Logan just got several MTV movie awards nominations. Yeah, I know, I know but Dafne Keen is nominated along with Hugh for best duo <3

They were a great duo! Who else is up for that one?

Beauty and the Beast guys may win because you know... #important ...

but Hugh never won MTV movie award it would be so cool if he got one for Best Actor, considering the years and effort he put in. But how cute would it be if him and Dafne won and accepted the award together? <3

I really liked it as well, actually got a bit emotional.

Though it seems a lot of people don't like it.

Folks scared that enjoying a musical makes them un-masculine. Simple people. The new clay of the Old West. You know, morons.
