It has a decent-ish cast. Harrelson, Newton and Glover are awesome, and... well, that's about it. No amount of love for Game of Thrones is ever going to force me to say Emilia Clarke is a good actress. And I've never seen anything from the chuckle**** playing Han. So... that's a bit rough.

Here's hoping for a good trailer?

Emilias eyebrows deserve awards...

I hope Emilia is a nude Twi'lek dancer.

Let's speak on a completely hypothetical level that Lord and Miller are comedy directors who simply couldn't handle directing a big budget heavily effects driven film that relies on stringent continuity to what will be at that point 9 other films.

Who ****ing hired them in the first place?

That's what I think happened. What they wanted to do or were trying to do just wasn't working for the franchise, the canon, or for Disney. Lord and Miller wouldn't compromise so they quit or were fired. Hopefully eventually we will find out what really happened.

Supposedly there was conflict "from day one". That's a terrible lapse of judgment from Kathy that she hired them.

At this point I hope Gareth stays well the **** away from Kenobi. He's got two colossal hits to use as collateral, he can set up shop anywhere.

Hell, I hope Ron Howard stays away from this. He hasn't made a truly good film since Rush, but he's above being Lucasfilm's Richard Lester.

Yep. Get used to CTrev, McG and Brett Ratner.

While PWSA laughs all the way to the bank.

Then why hire them?
One article I read (can't remember which one) said that their real conflict was with Kasdan, and Kennedy was backing him. I get the feeling Kathy hired these guys because they were a hot commodity and Kasdan either didn't get much say or wasn't too familiar with their work when it happened. So they were just never a good mix and once he saw their take on his material he wasn't happy, wanted them to work with another director on re-shoots, they refused, and Kennedy ultimately sided with Kasdan because of long-term loyalty. That's how I'm imagining this went down because I believe this is the first time Lord and Miller are working with a writer who has so much power over the final cut (as Kasdan's an EP on it too). Jonah Hill was a producer on Jump Street, but he's not a filmmaker and probably didn't throw his weight around like Kasdan would.

Given it's the second time they've rail roaded their directors LFL stinks of Tom Rothman era Fox.

If that's the case, (though some reports claimed that Kathy took issue with them as well from the very moment she hired them) that's still a gargantuan failure on the part of Kathy and Kasdan for letting things get as far it did.

Oh absolutely. There's no scenario that excuses anyone letting it get this far.

And really Kasdan whose recent works include Dreamcatcher and rewriting A New Hope should probably step the hell off.

LOL agreed, but I think this is sort of a pet project for him (his son's even the co-writer), so that's unlikely.

His son oddly strikes me as more akin to Lord and Miller than to his dad.

If you're interested in reading books from new authors or those who sell digitally only (ie not professionally published) then I can send you a link to a site which lets you read digital books by them for free on condition that you write a (supposed to be unbiased) review on it. I will just have to ask my friend for the site as I can't remember it.
