it's funny that when we are possible, all the things we heard and the reviews we read are positive; and when we are not negative, the exact opposite things will happen to u.

poor Joe, surrounded by all the negative forces...

Fifth highest grossing month of all time. And yet some people still discount the competition MOS has gone up against.

Well with all that business MoS should have made more money then, turns out people would rather go watch something else

It's great how this forum went from "I hope it can get at least $600 million for a sequel, will $550 million be enough?" to "$600 million is a lock and $700 million is likely".

If it gets $700 million, my first prediction will be right. :yay:

Edit: The word of mouth is not "poor" it is decent to good. :whatever:

Eh, you will have better success talking to a wall than to those who insist on WOM is poor and who bring up critical ratings. Yet one can bring up the positive audience ratings on different sites and that will just be be ignored. :whatever:

I have a feeling once the lone ranger fully rolls out Man of Steel is gonna start looking pretty damn good in the box office department.

I am. :hehe:

I'm going to guess that English is not sf2's first language...

I personally believe that if WOM was bad, we'd see Superman Returns level of atrocity in regards to B.O. numbers, not $520mil

Agreed. I think thats the only thing SR is good for is comparison.

Many of us couldnt wait for Superman. The trailers kept tugging at our hearts with the John Williams theme etc. But not only did it now have a big opening weekend, it fizzled.

So there is no issue of desparation by fans of MOS for the movie to do well. I wanted SR to be that movie to bring Supes back, but it made him worse in the eyes of the GA.

Yeah that's what I thought as well, so if that is the case, we should applaud anyone gutsy enough to come to an English language forum and engage in a discussion not in their native tongue. I can't speak another language, and I really admire those that can.

Same, I remember watching the trailers and being hyped that Superman was going to return to relevance in the 21st century. When I watched the film...that was a whole new different story. The movie got a lot of things right, but the way Superman was written was wrong. (I don't blame Routh since he couldn't even put his own interpretation of the character, I blame Singer and the writing team for missing the point of Superman). So much so, that I remember a lot of my friends hating it.

Then we saw BO numbers and it was shocking to say the least, couldn't even break the 400mil barrier, and the budget hurt the movie's potential to earn more.

With the amount of money MOS has already made in China what can we expect its final tally there is likely to be? BTW for those saying TASM was unfortunate to be released in China on the same day as TDKR, conversely wouldn't that also be true for TDKR vying for theater goers with TASM? Surely it cut into what TDKR likely would have made if it had been released without competition from another big name CBM.

MoS looking at around $50-60M finish in China. And yes China screwed both TDKR and ASM along with a couple of other movies like Prometheus and Expendables 2 by releasing them so close to each other.

Looks like 600mil could be a lock. Now we have to see if there's momentum for 700mil.

MOS has already made 47M in China so I don't see how it could make less than 60M.

I'd say 600 is a lock.

Now any other countries big enough for that last 100 to push it to 700?

Isn't MOS already at $47 million or so? I would think with about 10 more days to go in China $60 million is almost certain.

Brazil gets the lone July release. While Japan gets lolscrewed with an August 30th release (which I personally believe is going to hurt the market since piracy etc.)

If MOS isn't at close to $600 million by July 8th it would be surprising. Brazil opens in 10 days so I think $700 million is doable and is probably as some have said is the new basement.

I'm surprised so many people are happy to watch movies via bootleg. I suspect there is still a huge population that prefer quality. BTW, I've been keeping an eye on pirate bay, and the only MOS is the camera-recorded version. Looks like none of the reviewers or WB or DC Comics employees leaked their dvd screeners.
