MOS has only made about 50 mil or so more than SR did at the adjusted BO at this point, that's not that much more money, almost Hulk/TIH numbers wise for comparison, however, MOS's opening weekend was more than twice that of SR's, almost 3 times as big in fact, so there is an audience for Superman no doubt, I just think the film would have made more if the writing and editing were better. The WOM knocked the opening weekend down by at least 20 mil, IMO. If it was as good as it looked, it would have cleared 135 opening weekend, easily, IMO, and held stronger the following weeks.

I still say thinking there WILL be a sequel is up in the air at this point. It's out there in limbo along with the Superman/Batman movie for now and the SR and GL sequel as far as we're concerned at the moment. Saying they want Goyer to do another means nothing and is as much as we knew prior to the film really. It's no shock.

Just hopefully if it goes through he brushes up the writing a good bit.
You are being insane. This movie is doing very well, and the idea that it isn't getting a sequel at this point is ridiculous. Everyone who knows what they are talking about is impressed by the business it has done. Even adjusted it, it has already cleared Superman Return (which I like) by over $60m worldwide. This is with everyone who knows this stuff saying it probably has another $170m in it WW at least.

Come on. This is ridiculous. Especially when you consider MoS cost about the same and took in $160m pre-release.

Man of Steel is doing extremeley well. It makes me laugh when it gets compared to films like Iron Man 3 or Dark Knight which were sequels. The films it should be compared to are other reboots like Batman Begins, Amazing Spider-man etc. I bet WBs are ecstatic not many reboots earn the kind of money MOS is.

LOL, Batman Begins only made $207mill domestic and $167mill foreign :funny: and Iron Man $318mill domestic and $267mill foreign. Man Of Steel already $254mill domestic and $272mill foreign! The most dominant reboot of all-time from the most powerful hero of all-time, making a mockery of the weak Batman and corny Iron Man :lmao:

MOS was made waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay cheaper than Superman Returns. Superman Returns production Budget was $270 million. Some times i wonder where did all that money go. It sure as hell didn't show in the movie.

SR pulled in 391 WW million in its entire run. MoS has raked in 526 million WW in about 3 weeks, and it has yet to open in a few other big markets like Brazil and Japan, and it has only been in release in Australia for one week. Talk about trying to put a negative spin on things.

The real cost of Superman Returns is around $210m. The other $60m is the cost of all the false starts at the beginning of the decade, mainly Flyby. To put that on Superman Returns is not fair.

John Carter
Green Lantern
Lone Ranger

All 3 movies had the worst trailers you've ever seen. I took one look at the trailer and thought 'not a chance' (with regards to my watching the movie.
I don't think WOM killed these movies I think people saw the trailers and just didn't bother to see the movie.

Good point, but i disagree with you saying that superman is the most powerful hero.

There are a number of superheros in Marvel and DC THAT ARE MORE POWERFUL THEN SUPERMAN,IT'S JUST THAT SUPERMAN IS THE MOST FAMOUS OF THE THOSE SUPERHEROS THAT ARE POWERFUL.

Wow only 10 million for the Lone Ranger on opening day. :wow:

Disney was banking on the name of the film and Johnny Depp being in the film to make it a success. I don't think this film will meet it's budget.

Also impressed that comedian Kevin Hart made $5 million opening day. I had no idea that he even had a film out.

Despicable Me 2 with its 35 million is no surprise. This movie is going to remain number #1 for until the release of Turbo. I think Pacific Rim is going to flop the next week.

Green lantern last two trailers were really good however but i thought the first one was okay, but the last two were really good but then it was too late.

Technically Pre-crisis Superman really is the most powerful superhero ever.

Silver Age Superman could move moons and planets around and cause off the chart earthquakes by clapping.

Don't forget The Amazing Spider-Man was extremely successful at the box office taking away $262 domestically and $490 foreign. Though in my personal opinion that movie did not deserve those numbers but I guess someone loved it somewhere.

The GA treated The Amazing Spider-man like Spider-man 4 and was sorely disappointed.

Too be fair, I think that had something to do with Mxy.

Showtime comes in with the devastating blow...

Kaley Cuoco star actress of The Big Bang Theory has been swooped up by Cavill. This is bound to contribute to MOS2's box office domination. MOS got the June record, maybe MOS2 will get the July record!

Well, I mean... He's Superman. He's supposed to get any girl he wants.
