I hate to harp on this but I wonder what we could be looking at had MoS had PR's july release date?

At the very least it wouldn't have had its 2nd weekend under-cut by WWZ and MU.

It would have gone down to 4th place with the releases of RIPD, Red 2, and the Conjuring! :o

Hopefully , that evidence will show up during the summer of 2015.

You were predicting $400M+ a couple of months ago, calling it the event movie of the summer.

I also think MoS would have had a better shot at $400M...if it was a better movie.

It opened bear what I thought it would in early may (predicted 140m). WOM wasn't as good as expected and competition was (much) stronger than anticpated.

You can't break the June record in July. Releasing in July would therefore have been useless.

I'll take $700mil and the June record over $750mil and no record, any day of the week.

You think WB really cares about a June record over more money? Besides it arguably could have taken the record for highest grossing reboot WW had it been released in july.

Records are meaningless... Cash, on the other hand, is KING!

No, that doesn't mean it's actually getting ten million a day. Just that if you average out the current total with how many days it's been in release, it averages out to ten million a day.

Here's the updated box office:

Budget: $225,000,000

Domestic: $275,158,775 as of Jul. 10 2013 (46.6%)
+ Foreign: $315,600,000 as of Jul. 7 2013 (53.4%)

= Worldwide: $590,758,775

In Release:
27 days / 3.9 weeks

Are WB waiting for Comicon to officially announce the sequel?

We don't have Monday through Wednesday OS so the real figure is probably over $595 million. With Thursdays domestic and OS take, it might have crossed $600 million. If it hasn't got there yet it's darn close.

Brazil opens tomorrow. It'll be interesting to see what it does there over the weekend. Does anyone have any idea what we can expect based on the BO performance of similar movies such as TASM?

According to Box Office Mojo TASM did 30.3 million in its Brazil run. Early screenings for MoS in Brazil were very successful so we can hope for pretty solid performance there. I can't remember the forum members name but he is from Brazil and said anticipation there is very high. We can hope. Brazil and Japan are the last two major markets and it is critical for MoS to play well in both to hit 700 million.

I hope the os totals are strong this week because they will give us a real clear view of what the final picture is going to look like.

Most likely but we don't know what's going on over there now that Robinov has left. Potential projects that aren't already in development may be on hold temporarily until he's been replaced.

Well done to Snyder for making MAN OF STEEL the most powerful reboot ever and Cavill the most powerful actor in the world. Snyder has replaced Darren Aronofsky as my favorite director.

I know everyone is entitled to their opinion, but seriously?

MOS is my favourite CBM and even I agree with you. Some strange comments, most powerful this and that, his whole comment was just weird lol :woot:

Edit: btw my comment wasn't regarding his opinion on Snyder (a director I have always liked) been better than Aronofsky (I don't even know if I've seen any of his films) it was more on the weird nature of the comment and the most powerful actor thing.
