PR is better than all 3 transformers movies combined. I can't understand why this movie isn't dominating the boxoffice.

Anyway coming back to MOS

1)GU2 - 44.5M
2)DM2 - $44M
3)PR - $36.5M
4)The Heat - $13.5
5)MU - $11.5M
6)TLR - $11M
7)WWZ - $9.3M (this movie could hit $200M.....Awesome)
8)WWD - $6M

9)MOS - $4.5M (understandable as all the imax cinemas have stopped showing MOS) with $280M Domestic :wow:. It should at least earn $288M by next weekend. Looks like a slow (but sure) crawl to $300M

10)The End - $3M

Wernt people here saying yesterday that 4.5 was on track with MOS hitting 300 million?
Sounds like everything is going according to plan .

Just curious, where do you guys get a look at the schedules for 2015 and 2016?

Considering all the big movie out this number MOS is still doing well enough to hit 300 mil or more when it's run is done. I plan to see it for the 5th time in the first week of August. I have family member visiting me who wants to watch the movie with me knowing I'm a big Superman fan. That's $60 total with everyone going that will add to the BO number. :)

That score makes sense to me....cause its a better movie

Del Toro buys all of his good reviews from the Internet movie bloggers that he's friends with. His RT score is always inflated because of that.

Can someone go into detail as to what the "slow walk" entails ?
Is it a rerelease of a movie to the discount theatre chains or ?
Do all movies do this?
I remember back when SR got a crazy boost at the end that let it crawl past 200 domestic.
Is this going to happen with MOS to get to 300?
Also I've seen several quote Goyer as saying 600 ww is the magic number for a sequel. Where did he say that? Anyone have a link to that quote?

What's the OS on track for?

That's about what I expected based on Friday's estimate. It's a little lower than most of us hoped but it'll still get to $300 million Afaiac.

I haven't seen PR yet, but this year has been very strange. The Lone Ranger should have been great and made a ton of money. WWZ is a bad zombie film and it looks it will make 200 million.

Here's the updated box office:

Budget: $225,000,000

Domestic: $280,995,000 as of Jul. 14 2013 (47.1%)
+ Foreign: $315,600,000 as of Jul. 7 2013 (52.9%)

= Worldwide: $596,595,000

In Release: 31 days / 4.4 weeks

So;

Friday:
$1,335,000
+ Saturday:
$1,940,000
+ Sunday:
$1,550,000

= 5th Weekend:
$4,825,000 (Rank 10)

Will 200 million be enough to make WWZ Profitable ?

I think with its OS take Paramount has to be ecstatic. It won't make a ton of profit, but they could have taken a bath with the way the early chatter was suggesting. It's probably enough to green light a sequel.

it has been a weird year movies like WWZ ,grown ups 2,and Gatsby over perform while films i thought would do well underperformed like STID,Pacific Rim,Lone Ranger, etc.

I think $290 million domestic is definitely possible, and then hopefully it will get to $300 million. I hope OS it makes $400 million at least.

That's a matter of opinion. PR had nothing on the first TF and DOTM. Hell the BO proved that this weekend. 3rd place with 38m and it will be lucky to make 150m domestic. It's a huge flop for WB

Perhaps the GA do not share this belief. :o

Or maybe they have (negative) preconceived notions about PR, while they expected to enjoy TF. Who knows?

Well if it makes $5 million from the 15th through the 21st that puts us at $286 million it should be able to do $3 million or so from the 22nd -29th and that puts us awfully close to $290 before we even get to August. It can certainly pull in $11-12 million during all of August.

Its down to maybe 3 million this weekend. Half that next weekend. Dropping to under 1 million weekdays next week is likely. No way this gets to 300 million unless WB pulls what they did with SR.

Calling Mr Tobias. Another swing and miss from you! Estimate for this weekend is $4.5 million perhaps a little higher. You need to quit while your are ahead. Oh wait what am I saying, you've never been ahead. Btw 22nd of July at the latest, another of your revised predictions is going to fall. $285 million is going down!

Saw 4.82 weekend projection for MOS. Not bad considering it struggled a bit on Friday and was projected at 4.5. Number includes an optimistic number for Sunday. So lets hope that holds.

I just noticed GI Joe: Retaliation is still in some theaters.

The OS numbers were at 325M heading into the weekend. It passed the 600M worldwide mark midweek.

At this point the box office has nothing to do with the quality of MOS. It has to do with how many screens it will lose each week because of new releases.

Man Of Steel lost 755 Theaters & an estimated 2500 screens for this weekend. Next weekend it will be in the mid to low 1000s for theaters. Looking at 2.2 to 2.4 million next weekend most likely. The week you're probably looking at around the same number 2 million to 2.2 million or so.

That's essentially what I came up with as well, which basically means it will hit $285 million by the 22nd at the latest.
