Maybe he owns a Superman shirt with a detachable Saran Wrap S.

Ha ha that would actally be pretty cool, ooh maybe it coud be a rain coat that folds up and attaches to the t-shirt :woot:

Pretty certain the only reason for the delay in announcing the sequel is WB probably don't know whether to roll out the sequel before Justice League.

I wonder how this generation audience would think if this happen in MOS. Superman is so mad after killing Zod that he spin the earth backward to when Zod arrives. He than sent Zod and his crew to the phantom zone knowing what he needed to do to get rid of them. No ones dies, not city damage and the world is save... Superman fly off the scene, smile and wave to the camera... lol :oldrazz:... Just be happy STM work for it's time... it just won't work for this generation...

Superman is definitely flying back in time rather than spinning the world backwards.

As for the scene, there is no way I can have S:TM in my top 5 greatest superhero movies ever with such a glaring Deux Ex Machina. Everything up to that moment though is pure gold.

Superman 2 did the same thing IMO, it was going really well until the ending. o_O
Both endings.

The endings STM and Superman II are pure silver age. They fit the time perfectly. Though original there was only suppose to be the time travel at the end of Superman II. The kiss was added later after Donner was forced to move the time travel ending to the end of the first film and fired from finishing the sequel.

Umm... did we watch the same movie in STM? In this universe it has been stated he spin earth backward in order to turn back time... He didn't just turn time by flying really fast to travel back in time. It clearly show the earth's rotation stop and went reverse. After he went to the time he needed he spin earth back to normal to resume normal time.

I was 12 when the move came out and it was always known that the Superman of time could fly fast enough to go through time. The audience of the time always saw it as if we were staying with superman as he traveled through time, and thus saw it from his perspective of watching time go backwards. So, it is just us getting to see what Superman saw as he traveled back in time.

Think about it, if he flew fast enough to break the "time barrier" in a straight line a way from Earth, it would take him to long to get back to fix anything or he would end up at the wrong time.

What does it symbolize?

Yeah, what does it symbolize??

Anyone who loses someone they love dearly wishes they could reverse time.

This is foreshadowed by Pa Kent's death. Clark says "all these powers and I couldn't save him".

Well when he loses Lois he says "screw that" and uses his god-like abilities to turn back time. It's the wish fulfillment we often draw from comics but put in the context of enduring love.

Exactly, so I don't frequently complain about them. It's just weird when some people act as though those movies are undeniably well made movies by the modern age's standards. That doesn't mean they can't enjoy the movies more than MOS.

Also, a lot of the complaints about Superman Returns are applicable to the Donner movies (although Reeve>>>>>Routh). That being said I don't hate SR or the Donner movies, it's just something I noticed.

Maybe it's the power of nostalgia but I still get hyped when a pissed off Superman holds back tears while flying at super speed to reverse the rotation.

Way more powerful than anything you'll find in 90% of superhero movies.

Which complaints about SR apply to Donner's version?

I don't remember STM having bastard children, Superman lifting land masses made out of kryptonite, Superman crying after stalking/spying on Lois, terrible Superman costumes, Christ allegories that felt very forced, long periods of wasteful scenes that were boring, etc.

SR sucked all the charm and inspiration from the Donner-verse.

Superman the Movie and Superman II is the start. It is what makes all the others possible. It set the template for movies like Begins and Spider-Man. Spider-Man 2 is a legit rip off of Superman II.

That doesn't mean they are without criticism, but their importance makes others very defensive. It also doesn't help that many try to judge them by today's standards and treat them like they are "stupid" and "crap" just because they were made in the 70s.

What exactly is wrong with having a child and not being married? Is this the 1950s? :funny:

What superhero movies do you consider to be more powerful and uplifting?

Yeah, when I learnt that (and the fact that time travelling was a legit silver age power), although I still found the ending a cop out to the movie, I started appreciating the move because it made Superman even more relatable and likeable - a god who breaks a sacred no-no for one person, a god who is humanly selfish.

:hmm True. I think I need to rewatch the movie till the end. Lois lives the next time.

Sorry, I should have said "some" of the complaints.
The most frequent complaints I hear are "there was no action" "lex had a stupid real estate plot" "kryptonite keeps being used as a get out clause" "Superman is too overpowered and not very relatable". I'm not saying the Donner movies are bad, I'm just saying that there are lot of things about them that the modern audience aren't appreciative of.
I sense this is going to start an unnecessary debate in the wrong thread so I will shutup now.

Snyder-verse > Donner-verse...relating to Superman.

I have a weird relationship with STM and Superman II. When I haven't watched them in a while, I get all nitpicky and rude about them. And then I watch them, and they are suddenly two of my favorite films I have ever seen.

There is nothing quite like them.

 They are evergreen. At least have their classic moments that only a handful of other CBMs can match.

I know what you mean. :oldrazz:

In fact there are a lot of movies that I love but whenever I hear them being called "flawless" and movies that are compared to them getting called "flawed", I become highly critical because I don't think it's fair.

I hear ya.

Now.. back to box office! :)

I'm the newer generation... so watching STM and STM 2 now isn't all that good or relatable for me. Boring and cheesy. Reeve was a good Superman for that era but the movie as a whole was corny and just not one I can truly enjoy like some of you who grow-up watching it at the theater. The whole I can turn back time to erase all my mistake is stupid.

MOS is the Superman movie for me. Looking forward to the trilogy to unfold.

In other news, I predicting the BO to be 2-4 mil this weekend.

How old do you think we all are?

And is traveling through time really anymore "stupid" then crashing two engines together to create a selective black hole? :funny:

I feel the same exact way about some MOS fans.
