I'm the newer generation... so watching STM and STM 2 now isn't all that good or relatable for me. Boring and cheesy. Reeve was a good Superman for that era but the movie as a whole was corny and just not one I can truly enjoy like some of you who grow-up watching it at the theater. The whole I can turn back time to erase all my mistake is stupid.

MOS is the Superman movie for me. Looking forward to the trilogy to unfold.

In other news, I predicting the BO to be 2-4 mil this weekend.

I'm looking forward to seeing MOS 2 10 times...yeah, baby!

I think I'll make it 15 times...so I can beat Stephen K. Hone...yeah baby!!

Maybe it's the power of nostalgia but I still get hyped when a pissed off Superman holds back tears while flying at super speed to reverse the rotation.

Way more powerful than anything you'll find in 90% of superhero movies.

No dude, its way too campy and wouldn't fit with a modern day audience. :o:oldrazz::woot:

30 years from now, MOS will seem campy and outdated. Some will waxed nostalgic about the good old days when Superman killed Zod.

Donner's Superman fits my ideal of what Superman should be far closer than Snyder's Superman but Snyder's movie felt more epic. I really hope they address Superman's role as an inspiration in the sequel. Superman isn't supposed to be relatable like Spider-Man or Dark like Batman, he should be an inspiration for people to aspire to. I was being TOLD this 'one day they will join you in the sun' but I wasn't SHOWN this. But this is only year one so the movie gets a pass.

Donner's Superman is cheesy and the turning back time ending is hilarious but they absolutely get the essence of what Superman should be.

I feel the same exact way about some MOS fans.

People who think MOS is truly flawless and perfectly made are in the minority.
No movie is flawless in my opinion, not even......TDK *gasp*.

I agree with STARMAN, in 30 years time a lot of superhero movies will be classified as outdated and campy by some and loved and treated as classics by others.

MOS is one of very few movies I watched multiple times. It was really enjoyable, despite it's flaws.

It's sad that it's legs are the weakest among all the summer blockbusters... (except for Lone Ranger, possibly).

MOS broke the all-time June OW record, and also broke the reboot OW record, and you are sad because of legs? :wow:

Imagine how Batman Begins fans would have felt with that attitude :wow:

What exactly is wrong with having a child and not being married? Is this the 1950s? :funny:

Nothing is wrong with it unless it attempts to add to Superman's mythos in such a half-assed and hack-job way. :woot:

I remember when Superman got married it was a huge deal in comic book history. Singer just throws Superman's child in there like it's a Disney family sitcom that nobody watches.

Sorry but that won't happen. Goyer + Syder are the one who made Superman relevant again to Fans and GA. Goyer will be writing MOS 2 with perhaps someone like Johnathan Nolan helping with the script to ensure it's the best they can make it.
Bleh...I'm hoping the reviews will convince WB they need to make some changes. There are a lot of writers out there....no need to stick with a guy who did not deliver.
I was 12 when the move came out and it was always known that the Superman of time could fly fast enough to go through time. The audience of the time always saw it as if we were staying with superman as he traveled through time, and thus saw it from his perspective of watching time go backwards. So, it is just us getting to see what Superman saw as he traveled back in time.

Think about it, if he flew fast enough to break the "time barrier" in a straight line a way from Earth, it would take him to long to get back to fix anything or he would end up at the wrong time.
This. I'm always surprised that anyone thinks the earth actually stopped turning and went in the opposite direction....how would that effect time in any way?

Plus...it would end all life on earth. :woot:

You forgot to put ...."Who did not deliver for me"

True...correction, "Who did not deliver for me and the critics".

I'm a little sad too because Superman can easily make more than 300m domestic....this should be seen as a "decent success" for Supes.

Even though I love the movie, I agree with this part.

Yeah....sorry dude but Goyer is most likely staying. Not a problem for me though. Actually it didn't deliver for half of the critics. It's not like the movie got a 20% on RT and a 25 on metacritic.

No, not easily.

Was Batman Begins "decent success" ($207mil domestic, $167mil foreign) or less?

How we all doin' in here this week, folks?

Horrible, the movie is failing and struggling to get $700 million WW. :o

:oldrazz:

By the way, reading the parts of the BO thread after the 2nd weekend drop is hilarious now. :funny:

ahahaha.

I just hope we get some official word on that sequel soon. lol

We will. Unless WB wants to mess with us and wait a year to do it (like they did with BB). :/

Even if there is no announcement this weekend , a sequel is still likely

It will happen eventually.
It's just that SDCC would be an awesome occasion to announce it.
