Never say never..

Titanic was technically a 'reboot'.. or 'redo'... and it made almost 2 B... (and people thought it was gonna sink)

and then Avatar was thought to fail too.. but ended up doing close to 3B...

Looks like Cameron don't believe in 'consensus' or 'current data'...

We need more ppl like James Cameron and Steve Jobs... people who defies conventions...
agreed
dc let marvel bet them to the punch with a team up they should have never scraped superman returns although I know it wasnt well received but look at captain america and thor to me none of those movies was a success becuse they didnt even touch the 500 mark the budgets are different in a big way but I believe a sequel to SR would have been successful done the right way but even with the minor success of CA and Thor and im2 marvel still went through with thier plans on a teamup and it worked out just fine takes money to make money dc/wb have to realize that they should do a GL WW Flash and even minor heros with smaller budgets 130-160mil anf for those not so well known heros 75-85mil budgets steel, knight wing, greeen arrow,Captain marvel, cyborg, smaller budgets for those heros will all mean success and a expanded cbm universes

The Superman from SR would have made a terrible front runner for a JL movie. The costume was bad, the action was bad. They stopped the bleeding.

so do u think thor, captain america or hawkeye and black widow could have been played better I asked cuz I do.the proformance of those actors in thoses roles was not great
and superman could nhave changed his uniform to fit the JL

Captain America for sure...never liked Chris Evans playing CA. Also Renner would have been fine as Hawk Eye but Whedon did his character no justice. Even Renner was pissed at how his character was on screen. Scarlett is there for looks and nothing more, she does ok with the role but it could be better as well.

dont get me wrong I liked tge avengers but it didnt take me long to realize that it only had one major part in the movie
thor and iron man only had a 1 min fight and hulk and thor fight barely had that
I would watch Man Of Steel anyday over the avengers and any other cbm

I agree completely they should do the 2nd tier superheroes with smaller budget.
Damn... Marvel managed to do Thor, why DC/ WB still fail to do Wonderwoman???
Aquaman n flash too.

so how long realistically does this have left in theaters before it gets pulled entirely?

dont really know all tge new releases push it more and more out of the movies and it seems as if it wont get a 100 days of its release so ill say another .25-35 days but that's only if WB/Dc re-release it then it mite get its 114 days but I think if they do it will do wonders for MOS only becuse tge GA didnt loose interest in the movie it was only becuse of the lost of screens if MOS did another 2 weeks in china it would have hit a 100 mil in that market I say that becuse it grossed 63mil there
give it another month and see what it will do the OS total will get much better with a re-release imo
it can get up to 450 foreign if theu do it and I think it can get 300mil dom as well
I know many are saying im crazy for thinking so but lets be honest more people would go see it in 3d before anything else and its so close to 300 mil just need 13 mil more I think another 2 months in the movies it should crawl there

ah.

well, I'm hoping it can make at least another $3m+ to hit $290m.

Most "big movies" do another 3 million at the dollar movie. That is one of the issues that a crowded movie market creates, people waiting for the dollar movie. I know a lot of people who, if they miss seeing the movie when it is new (the only new major release) they just say "I'll catch it at the dollar movie".

Now that man second run theatres now have digital presentation, there is no reason not to wait but it has made the second run box office a little more significant.

So, even if MoS goes to dollar movies this week it will likely get to 290. It would have to bomb at the dollar movies, but I think it will find the rest of its GA there which will help drive home video sales.

Perception wise, there isn't much difference between 290 and 287.

but it's a nice round number.

also, I hope MOS will go to my city's dollar theater soon. it's currently not playing at all in my city. :csad:

MOS hasn't played by me in a while.

Sure, 290 sounds better. But it's not like it's going to alter perception or influence WB decision going forward. But I understand. 290!

n flash too.
I know it seems as if they are scared I respect marvel for the confidence they have in thier characters just think about it wb/dc can take another 400mil and turn it to 5-6 more possible franchises worse case senario make sure all the major hero's make appearances on these minor heros movies knight wing and batman, steel and superman, flash and cybrog and so on if they do it all the side heros movies will be a hit automatically imo a shared dc universe in all of dc movies would surely change the game and level the playing field

$122,010 - Tuesday Figures (Looks like we may get to 287,500,000 if the weekend is around 300 G)

+16.7% / $244
$287,034,077 / 47

it just hit the 2nd run/cheaper theater in town here this week. so at most,it'll be in through Monday here, then gone...

Holy crap I just realized that the new batman reboot will be directed by zack Snyder
can't wait to see how much Snyder batman differs form nolan batman
I see Snyder has the key's to the DC cbm universe he will be directing Mos movies
batman movies
justice league movies
wow form watchmen to this good job

yeah, but how many titanic films have been made.

this is the best list I could find.
Saved from the Titanic (1912)

Titanic (1915)

Atlantik (1929)

Titanic (1943)

Titanic (1953)

Night to Remember, A (1958)

S.O.S. Titanic (1979)

Raise the Titanic (1980)

Titanic (1984)

Titanic (1993)

Titanic (1996)

No Greater Love (1996)

Titanic (1997)

When I say reboot, i'm talking about films like star trek, batman, superman, spider-man, etc.
I've yet to see a true reboot do a billion...anyone?

Damn! Titanic had THAT many movies???
yeah..some are tv films, some are bigscreen.. the one from 1915 isnt even about the actual ship, just shared the name. so omitt that one.

do know how the world would react if they knew their was someone like this out there?
I think that's a reference to batman
and how he would react come on 2015

im hearing reports that china still owes man of steel 31mil
does anybody know if that's not a apart of the box office total
or will that be added when they pay it to WB

The difference is that Thor is a sequel and is following the avengers succes... In Supes we have a reboot and MOS fought with stupid reviews (and the sheeps that believe most of the "great critics") and with big productions as MU, wwz something avengers or other cmb didn't.. and the movie is stablishing and gave a good change into the Superman universe to a modern era with a great plot (not perfect)... in all my screenings people clap at the end.. so the meh that Jim-el is trying to say I don't see it.... except for purists and haters but I don't give a sh... to them... Fans and most of the people enjoyed and loved MOS... I don't need a 400 million BO to know if a movie is good... like I said above.. many 1 billion dollars are bulls%&
AND GOOD LUCK TO THOR'S BOX OFFICE:cwink:

Woah woah, I'm not downplaying MOS' success at all I think it did well plus I enjoyed it quite a bit. I'm just saying people shouldn't be so quick to count Thor out just because he isn't as "revered" and "iconic" as Supes.

Remember THOR made 450 million in his first film EVER (no reboots) with hardly ANY previous exposure to the GA. He had no prior films or main roles in any tv shows, I can't think of another B-lister besides IM that made that much with their first film.

Lol wut?? thor making 700/750 ww?? no way. Maybe 550/600 IF its good.
RDJ made the IM franchise and was a main draw in Avengers. Chris Hemsworth is no RDJ.
As for wolvie, i'll pass and wait for the DvD. I hated the last one.

Okay sure, just remember I'll be reposting this once November rolls around. :oldrazz:

I agree that it will have a nice run in the $1 movie chains. the blu ray comes out 10/15 from what I have read so I doubt it will be out in the mainstream theaters. I think 16 weeks in the norm but its already in the 6 digit range and will only continue to drop. $290 would be awesome but I think it would need a special edition re-release to get another 3-4 million. Maybe Snyder can whip together some additional scenes and they can get a Labor Day MOS Special Edition release happening.
