mos has as much hype and marketing as avengers and tdk it is the summer movie everyone wants to see it is not just some standard reboot or first in a franchise

i don't know any of my friends who don't want to see it

variety already projected a 100 million weekend

On topic; what about 'Blade'? i know it's been longer that 12 years ago, but it's still a CBM, and it didn't have a very good RT rating, but still pretty succesful

Blade made 131M WW, people are predicting that for OW!

My, my how the times have changed.

Still, Blade was succesfull enough to start a franchise,made into a TV series, spawned a new CB series,creating a definite look for the Blade character in the comics that last to this day.

Oh, and the movie also started that winning combo of wire-fu and techno music...

I can find a pattern with every movie you just listed... They're all sequels. Also non relatable considering none are CBM.

Find me a CBM in the last 12 years, that A) isn't a sequel, and B) that did poor on Rotten Tomatoes yet still managed to make huge money in the BO... I double dog dare you!

You're missing my entire point... once you get it, you'll then understand that there is no need to answer your question because i wasn't even talking about that...

Since you predict $500M and I predict $1B, let's see who's closer... and this part doesn't even have to do with what i said either...

How can you predict 1B when no franchise (besides Spider-Man 2002) has even cleared 600M out of the gate? It just doesn't make sense...

Every superhero origin movie has made less than 600M WW besides Spider-Man. What makes this movie any different? The fact that critics are raving about it? Get it? Cause they're not...

That was my ENTIRE point.. it's not about CBM movies, it's not about Sequels, or Origin movies... or whatever type movies..

It's about the HYPE, it's about a BlockBuster, it's about Superman (the brand) which is recognizable throughout the world.. it's about 'ACTION', it's about a FUN MOVIE... all of that far outweights the difference between a 70 rating and an 80 rating... get it??

So, if you based your entire BO prediction on the RT score, then you'll be down for some disappointment...

Now, of course if it starts to fall to 60ish, and the movie 'actually sucks' big time, then sure, that matters... but so long as it's within 70% and above, it matters little... because OTHER variables are far, far more important...

The bottom line: Let's wait a couple months and see who's right...

Exactly, Iron Man was the closest at like 585M WW or something like that. It just makes no sense to predict a questionable reboot, according to the critics, at 1B when that benchmark is for the elite of established superhero movies.
