So this could potentially be the 3rd or 4th highest grossing movie of 2013....nice

While the numbers are very good they are not as impressive as they could have been. While i dont believe the critics are completely right they are right on some aspects and it is showing in the numbers. I see a huge drop off next week.

Assuming the actuals hold up this was a good performance. While people are somewhat befuddled by the Wal-Mart numbers, (it's hilarious to read the box office forums and hear people arguing over this) ultimately this is good enough to warrant the sequel and move forward.
What is more concerning is if this did well enough that Goyer and Snyder will be rewarded going forward. I really hope these two are removed from all future DC projects. I think WB has a good foundation here moving forward, but all bets are off if they bring Goyer back.
Random question: Is anyone else annoyed with that scene where screens flashing "YOU ARE NOT ALONE" and in different languages too? It's completely cheesy and unnecessary, they should have done a better take on the Zod's announcement of his demands, a more realistic, universally understood yet alien way. And that giant NOKIA logo on that phone is very annoying LOL.

Come on...nobody will replace them after that they have brought to life the Superman franchise after more than 20 years.
Snyder and his team are the winner today.
They may not be replaced but I could easily see Goyer getting a co-writer for the sequel. WB would be stupid not to do this given MOS's critical reception.

What the heck are you talking about? lol MOS is on pace for 300M+ domestically.
You didnt like it. That's cool, after all we are entitled to our own opinions. But a ****load majority of other people like this movie. WOM will be decent.Don't jump to conclusions yet. The marketing for this movie was phenomenal, so I'm not surprised it had a smash opening weekend.
We'll see if the movie has the legs to continue the momentum. Personally I don't see it. And no it's not just because I didn't like the film personally, but because I don't think it's enough of a "feel good" movie like most summer blockbusters of it's kind. I believe it is an empty, joyless experience and I'm not sure if a mind blowing action sequence an hour and a half into the movie is enough to push it beyond expectations.
I predict noticeable drop offs.
Considering how much the movie made and the positive reception from the majority but the RT critics...I doubt anyone is replaced or a co-writer is added for the sequel. I bet the entire same crew comes back.
I hope they keep Goyer and Snyder. Goyer should write the script because he knows the comics and has good ideas. However, a more polished writer should re-write it. Also, I am a big fan of Zack Snyder, but I think for the sequel he needs to throw his shaky cam into the trash can.![]()
Or Goyer could just be the idea man and someone more talented than he could actually write the script.

So $113m, very good result.
What overseas markets are yet to open?

This week Man Of Steel arrives in 27 markets including France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Russia and China. Australia opens on Jun 27, Brazil Jul 12 and Japan Aug 30.
Either way would be fine by me. I think we all agree that Goyer should not do it all on his own.
