It's rated PG 13 in my country same as MOS

Snyder is partly to blame for the lower saturation of the movie... even in 2D, the saturation is bad...

Also, I will never watch another movie in 3D on regular screens. They just sucks big time... I will only watch them on IMAX screens and even then only on their latest dual-barco 4K projectors...

I think 3D will only be really good when they have 16K projectors and movies shot on 16K digital cameras... right now, 4K is the highest resolution and it just doesn't work very well for an immerssive experience when you can see the pixels... True IMAX with documentaries shot in 70/15mm films have about 100Mega Pixels.. and that's why the clarity is like looking out your window...

I watched MOS here in London in the Vue Cinema on their Vuextreme 3D screen which was a very large screen. The picture quality did not seem that great to me, it seemed a little blurry. Next time I am just going to watch in in regualer screen or IMAX 2d.

Exactly my point...

1. MOS is already done in low saturation.... so, the bigger the screen, the worse the picture quality...

2. The only way to watch this in 3D with acceptable colors is in the new IMAX theaters with DUAL barco projectors. They use dual projectors to increase the light output... Even then, for MOS, the color is still pretty bad... acceptable but not great...

If you're watching it on regular screens, chances are they are single digital projectors (that doesn't have a lot of brightness to begin with). The larger the screen, the worse it'll be.

Better than I expect for a Wednesday number. I expect the same number for Thursday and than back up on Friday-Sundays.

Today might get a little ugly...Game 7 of the NBA finals, and game 6 was really highly-rated.

What are people hearing as far as WOM, particularly from non-CB fans? Personally I haven't heard many people talking about it (but studying for the bar exam 12 hrs a day will do that). I have heard some references to the low RT score. Could that hurt MOS's legs going forward?

The kids seem to like this film. I was at Vacation Bible School at my church. We were outside playing when one of the kids came up to me and asked if I wanted to play DC Universe. Superman was already taken and the one kid said he was the bad guy, General Zod. Earlier, when I pulled out my Man of Steel iOS game, there were a bunch of kids stacked on my shoulder excited to see it.

No mention of Monsters U from the group.

Ha that's cute. Still want a MOS video game.

Well if Rocksteady will get off their asses! :argh:

:o

MOS is PG up here in Canada, definitely think that's probably helped it a bit. All of my co-workers want to see it, they just haven't gotten a chance yet. A 60M secondary weekend I still think is within the realm of possibility. A lot of people on Twitter and Facebook have loved it, that positive WOM can only help it.

With today's technology WOM = Facebook, tweeter, and any social media. Also friends telling friends.

Big drop. Above normal. Not a good sign. maybe the negative reviews are starting to kick-in.

Normally Wednesday kicks up a bit especially in first few weeks of a release.

Guru lowered her end of weekend prediction a bit.

I think it was premature of her to say it could reach 325 million.

I expect a huge drop this weekend. Like 62% for a total weekend of 44 million.

That said MOS should end up north of 250 domestic and likely close to 275 million in the end. Right in the middle of my 250 - 300 million prediction.

Unless it collapses its definitely making more than $275 million domestic.

It could but the "legit" reviewers which BOM describes as not thrilled with MOS will hurt more. I expect a bigger than normal drop this weekend. Around 62%. A sign of not great legs. Still MOS should get to around 275 million domestic and 350 million international which would pull it north of 600 million WW. Meaning a sequel would be likely.

A big drop this weekend would indicate a collapse of sorts. The bigger than normal drop yesterday may be a sign of this. If there is another bigger than normal drop today then the weekend could be ugly. It should still end up at 275 domestic. OS will be around 350 million IMO and will save the film as I've always thought. Given the 600 million threshold for a sequel.

lol .. nope .. watch this cross the $300m mark by end week 7 .. bookmark this page

This movie would have to come in below 5th place this weekend for them to not make a sequel. It's already a smashing success BO wise, your bias against the film is showing through in your logic.

The second weekend hold (or not) will determine whether the film is a smashing success.

Jury out till Monday on that.

IMO it would have to have a 55% or less drop to this weekend to indicate legs that would pull it to 300 million. IMO the drop will be larger.

IMO OS will be 350 million. Maybe a bit more. So if that happens the total will be north of 600 million and a sequel likely.

This movie will be around $210 million domestic at least after this weekend. And that is me really lowballing it with a pretty huge 2nd weekend drop. No movie that has earned at least $200 million domestic after 10 days has had a domestic total lower than $275M. So the collapse your saying would be quite notable.

This movie is looking at over $400M OS at least.

Is anybody worried about WB's plans for setting the DC universe. i.e. having a Justice League before individual films? I for one am skeptical.

The only reason the Avengers was successful was because of the individual films and the time that Marvel put in setting up its own comic book world. It seems to be that WB are only interested in quick money. And if they continue acting as such they are going to ruin our chances at having great DC movies.

Not saying it will be lower than 275 million. With a big drop this weekend it should still reach 275 million which confirms your stat about 210 million and 10 days. IMO it will end the weekend with 210 - 216 total so far.

That it's weekday has dropped to as low as 9 million in it's first week says next week it could be down to as low as 4 million. If that is the average then just 16 million leading up to weekend 3. That is defined as a collapse if it happens - 4 million average next week. You still can get to 275 million with that number next week.

The WOM is hard to gauge. Where I work no one, literally, has mentioned the film one way or the other. Yet some here report their co-workers are mentioning it. Someone posted above that they too aren't hearing about MOS from their circle.

My guess is WOM is in the middle. Not great but not horrible either.

Came back from my fourth viewing and it was the least packed showing, but was still about 65% full and my crowd loved it. My non-Superman fan little sister and non-comics fan cousin LOVED it. They were saying how they didn't know what to expect and came out extremely pleased and are extremely excited for the future of DC Comics movies. Big applause at the end.

Not sure where all this talk of "WOM is in the middle" is coming from.

I've made the argument in a thread i started on the dc films forum that having a bunch solo films just to culminate in a justice league movie shouldn't necessarily be the focus of WB and they should just focus on putting out great solo films regardless of any team up in the end as opposed to the marvel way.

I personally haven't heard anyone say the movie sucks but I know several that thought it was just ok and a couple that thought it was awesome.

Exactly!

Some here like me have not heard anyone mention it at all. Others have had the opposite experience.

You are proof IMO that WOM is in the middle. You are expressing hearing a mix of opinions.

This weekend will be telling. If the drop is greater than 55% WOM is not so hot. Less than that and WOM is strong.

WB is very nervous right now waiting on the weekend numbers. Not that they assume the drop will be larger than normal but more that they just don't know and this weekend could be the key for a sequel and/or JL.

55% isn't the absolute. I feel like closer to 60% is to be expected considering the competition out this weekend.

Seeing it again for the 2nd time this weekend now that I've had a whole week to soak in the movie in my head and listening to the soundtrack now to fully appreciate and maybe change my rating from a 9 to a 10.
