With all the hype and CGI, I guess you can be proud. MOS is sinking like rock in a pond because its just not a good movie.

At least SR has a better score, better music & a better Superman.

300 million tops and thats mostly because people were interested in all the talk about the CGI effects.
:lmao:

Actually goyer doesn't understand 'evolution' nor 'morality'...

I think when he says 'morality' he means 'Our own morality', or maybe 'his own, christian morality'... or whatever he thinks it is...

A King Cobra that eats only other snakes is perfectly moral in what he's doing... for instance.. every creature that has brains sophisticated enough do possess their own 'morality'... there is an advantage to the human's morality that's based on 'you scratch my back i scratch yours' attitidude.. even bats do that... it's a survival advantage...

Kryptonians on the other hand has probably stopped evolving naturally.. they are only evolving 'artificially, by re-creating themselves, by selective breeding'... humans have also lost most of it's natural evolution because we basically controls our environment today, and almost anyone can breed and pass on his/her genes...

That whole speechifying of hers seemed wrong to me. She's a military person. She should have said "You're caring about these people puts you at a tactical disadvantage. It's an obvious weakness that we'll be sure to exploit." or something along those lines.

Funniest joke I heard today.

It's fine, people. If he gets 750 million worldwide gross for it's entire run, is that a disappointment?

same difference if he had no morality he would'nt care about the humans lol

Whatever dude!

Perspective, people. Name a reboot that's made a billion dollars at the box office?

It's more about seeing it from her perspective. Putting it in military terms as opposed to some diatribe on evolution would fit better, IMO.

A big second week drop off and mixed word of mouth isn't great. But I see this doing something similar to ASM.

IMO, $750M WW for MoS is rather optimistic. It's locked now for $500M WW and has a decent 50/50 shot for $600M but $750M is a rather long shot at this point.

And $550M is about all it would need to be sequel worthy from a business POV. And since they're already talking sequel, well....mission accomplished.

Yes, agreed. Though, I thought she was the coolest one in the Movie... :yay:

The folks who actually know and understand the box office have felt mid June was a horrible choice for a while.

Man of Steel in PACIFIC RIMS spot might challenge 400m. Instead it is likely to crawl to 300m. WB cost themselves millions by picking a poor date to open on. Likely think they will overall benefit from having PR in July but I doubt that.

Yup, my point too... I think MOS have lost $100M domestic opportunity cost due to the worst possible release date ever!

Another opportunity cost is WB's lack of OS promotion/marketing.. it has proven very strong OS too, and I think it could have been much, much stronger with better marketing....

Maybe, I dunno. I think in any event the $100M is "would have gotten" hypothetically just for the sake of argument would also have ended up taking $100M away from PR since it would have been relegated to MoS's spot. PR needed more help so they gave it the spot that would benefit it the most. At the end of the day it's all going into WB's wallet anyway.

I wouldn't be that sure... Unless PR is as good as MOS plus have the same amount of branding that MOS has, it can't all add up...

Most movies are heavily front loaded (if they are just spectacles or your typical blockbusters)... so, putting PR in June vs July would have not made much difference to PR because PR may not have the juice to have those legs...

However, we have seen that MOS does indeed have those legs and that it started out breaking all records... so, with legs plus starting out so strong, if you gave it 1 month of space to breathe, it'll truly do some serious damage at the BO...

It broke records because it was in June. The same opening in July would have broken no records.

I think it should be obvious they chose June because they wanted Father's Day Weekend. Just look at some of the TV spots. Look at how this film was marketed. The father angle was practically shoved down everyone's throats.

Word got out that there's almost no substance in the film and that nobody cares about this movie or anything that happens in it and people aren't seeing it now. :-/ I was afraid of this.

I think word of mouth is hurting the second week totals more than WWZ.
