hope more Star Trek than Transformers

The thing with Alexander Orci and Alex Kurtzman is that I think they do the best they can with what they are given.

Transformers 2 suffered because of the writers strike, and the script became a whole mess. They also wrote Cowboys and Aliens that had mixed reviews. But honestly, the movie is about cowboys crossing over with aliens. Nobody was expecting a masterpiece. I think the movie was as good as it really could have been.

They wrote the Star Trek reboot which was brilliant. It appealed to both Star Trek fans, such as myself, and non-Star Trek fans. It was filled with lots of action, and a really good story. That's what I hope the next Spider-Man movie has. From what I understand, they are fans of Star Trek, and they did their best to respect the franchise as much as possible. Does anyone know if they are Spider-Man fans? I'd assume they care more about the comic book character than James Vanderbilt.

Just to point out their other positive work, they also wrote scripts for episodes of Fringe, Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, Xena: Warrior Princess, Alias, & Hawaii Five-0.

Glad to hear they are huge Spider-Man fans at least. Doesn't make them better writers, but I'd prefer if the people making the movie have some passion for the character.

I thought Star Trek had a lot of heart. The first TF had a bit of heart too, although clearly diluted by the Bay factor.

Star Trek did have heart, but I guess that is all opinion. As for Transformers, just as I Am The Knight said, it was affected by its director Michael Bay.

They did write the first 10 minutes of Star Trek, which was fantastic. However, the rest of the movie didn't have the emotional pull and character of the first 10 minutes.

Sony wants more action i hope that too, but if it replaces the drama and character develpment and i´ve read before that they don´t have heart and Spiderman has it ,did they replace the original writter or they are cooperating?

It's more about the director than anything else, imo. You can have a great script but if the director doesn't do his job well then you end up with poop. I'm glad to hear those two writers are fans of Spidey but I'm also not too fond of hearing how Sony wants "more action." I'm not against having more action scenes but I'd prefer quality over quantity, so as long as they don't skip the ever important character development/relationships and keep me connected to the characters the way Webb did with ASM, I won't be worried about the final product. It'd be nice if Webb is able to come back but if not, I'm hoping they get a director that can bring both action and emotion to the table.

I would like Webb back as well but I doubt we'll hear anything soon. Maybe in the next few months.

I'm more leaning on Marc Webb will be producing and we'll be getting a new director. All I hope is that the director gets to have his freedom while making the sequel and putting his print on it as Raimi in Spider-Man 1 and 2.

There was some unnecessary stuff in TASM that could've just been cut like when Peter and Gwen sat at the bleachers and some dialogue. That could've easily been replaced with more Lizard stuff

the great thing about Nolan's Batman is that most of the character development is tightly connected to the story and the villain, so even in action scenes we get a little of that. The closest thing to that in Spider-Man movies is probably Spider-Man 2, but even that's not the same.

If Spider-Man 2 had Andrew and Emma, that would probably be my favorite. True, the pacing isn't as good in TASM, but when they did so many things right that I wished a Spider-Man movie would do right, it instantly gets my respect, even with the flaws it has

The bleacher scene helped the growing relationship of Peter and Gwen and, imo, gives Peter someone to talk to at school about what's going on. That part was needed, imo. Just not the part of him throwing the football.

I don't think there was too little action in ASM at all. However, what needed to be better was the action itself. I just can't like the school fight as much as most guys here do. When Lizard tosses those bottles, it just feels silly. Lizard moved in a way I just don't imagine he would. The fight wasn't nearly brutal enough. Spidey had some pretty bad quips (I want quips, but they should be better than that). Then Lizard's just gone. I know why he had to leave but Marc should've handled that a little better.

I liked the final battle alot more but even that one wasn't too awesome. What really won me over in this film was the characters and the emotions, but it would be great if the action in the next one would be a little bit better. Not necessarily more in numbers or longer in duration, just better.

Star Trek did have heart, and even the first TF film...the only good one. But I think that was good for those multiple character/ensemble films but TASM is a smaller scale. I think they Orci and Kurtzman are good writers, but I don't fully get how they can be compatible with Spidey. I guess we will find out.

^I agree. There was no reason for the fight to end after the Stan Lee cameo. If anything, Spider-Man could have chased him down the sewers and the fight could have continued there.
