Marvel vs. Capcom: A Thread of Two Worlds

I think we won't be seeing another Marvel fighting game until Capcom is ready to make MvC4. :/

MvC is fun, but I still want that Marvel brawler, that basically looked like a Marvel fighting simulator, that had you fight in entire city blocks.

When did they drop the price on UMvC3 DLC? I see everything half off on PSN. The costume value pack is $10. Just may pick that up. MvC Origins as well which is $3.75

ETA: Just read it just happened bc of them being pulled

I had $13 in my PSN wallet. It's been left untouched for probably half a year now. So I went ahead and bought the value pack.

and Geki makes a good point right here. I forgot about the Lego game

That really doesnt matter. WB publishing the LEGO Marvel game is less Marvel and DC working together and more LEGO using one of the properties they have access to. WB has published other Lego games that werent related to any of their properties.

A NRS developed DC vs Marvel isn't happening anytime soon(if ever) and Capcom losing the license to MvC3 is absolutely, in no way, indicative of that scenario.

Altho, for the record, a Marvel vs DC NRS developed fighter might be the best thing to ever happen in the industry, ever. God that would kick ass.

There goes my dream of Marvel vs Capcom 2 releasing on the Vita.

I've had $38 sitting in mine untouched for a year. Even though I don't play anymore, I'll get the costume pack, Jill and MvC Origins for about $16

Do these costumes come with the Ultimate version of the game?

Marvel's deal with Capcom never prevented them from doing this. Disney owns the Marvel characters and could always have done an Infinity type game since they never licensed that out to anyone. Also, they already have several games in the mobile space. Capcom's license was to make fighters. Hence why Gazillion is able to make the MMO, Marvel Heroes and Activision has several different licenses for 3rd person action titles. The end of this parternship with Capcom means someone else can now make a fighting game featuring these characters. Will we get one? Who knows, but it definetly seems more likely now than it did prior to this news

That's an optimist way to look at it, but it's probably something as simple as them not wanting to pay the licenses anymore.

I, personally, think Disney should just buy Capcom. Disney & Marvel have had success with Capcom (MvC, Duck Tales, Chip n Dale, Darkwing Duck, etc...), Disney needs a video game studio to compete with WB Games (Disney Interactive sucks & Disney knows it, or else they wouldn't have let EA get the SW license) & some of Capcom's franchises would fit right in with what Disney already owns. :D

Outside MvC, those games are pretty ancient (and I believe the Duck Tales remaster didn't do that well). Capcom isn't exactly in their prime by any means. I really don't think Disney is all that interested in making traditional AAA games.

I would love a well done Marvel vs. DC fighting game. Screw the haters.

How does one screw what does not exist? The **** you talking about?

Last I heard that was #1 in the top downloads at PSN back in August.

Considering how Capcom was milking Marvel vs. Capcom, I doubt the termination of the license had anything to do on their end. I'm more than willing to bet that it was Disney that terminated the license.

It would honestly make a lot of sense for Disney to license the Marvel rights the way the licensed the Star Wars IP to EA where EA gets to make the AAA console games and Disney keeps the mobile/social rights. It makes a hell of a lot more sense than what is going on right now where Capcom had the rights for a Marvel fighting game, Activision has Spider-Man/X-Men, Gazillion has the MMO rights, Gameloft has the mobile rights, and Sega used to have the MCU rights. It would simplify things, allow Disney to expand where they want to expand, while most likely improving the quality of Marvel games.

I just played the game for the first time in about a year.. and it had a few updates. I was indeed drinking, but i know i saw what i saw.. friends were over and I didn't read the details.. but i saw the updates and the words "Green Goblin" and "Iceman" popped up... i don't know if these were like trophy unlockable type stuff.. or something else... can anyone help me with what I saw? it's been driving me nuts!

You're crazy, yo...

(Goes off to Google & Shoryuken.com to investigate more into this...)

I can't find a damn thing... i wasn't that drunk, and i never "see things" I know what I saw! Obviously they're not playable.. because we'd find info on that.. but im just curious why they were named in an update??

I hope Disney does do that.

I'd really like another Marvel fighting game of some sort.

I wouldn't mind some solo fight games of heroes either... i mean. i love my Marvel Vs Capcom games, and I'd absolutely love a Injustice Style fight game with them.. but I also wouldn't mind some solo games... like ..

A Spidey-verse fighting game (different spideys, villains and allies playable)
X-men Fighting game (heroes and villains like Next Demension and what not)
Avengers fighting game...
Cosmic Marvel even?

that would be pretty cool, especially if similar to Injustice

That might have been from the "Heroes and Heralds" thing, which had those two as characters.

That reminds me, anyone else remember when we almost had Doc Ock in the game?

Oh that does sound familiar. What was that? And how were they used?

It's been a while, but I think you could choose to be either "Heroes" (regular characters) or "Heralds" (silver-colored characters a la Silver Surfer) and you could set up cards that acted as power ups. All the cards featured Marvel and Capcom characters that didn't make it in the game, like Gobby and Iceman.

could be fake but worth posting

Eh, hard to be hyped for this after the last one being a major disappointment and the Street Fighter V ********.

then it's dead to me. :o

**** you Sony and Capcom! :cmad:
i've explained this to you before. would you rather the game not exist at all rather than exist as an exclusivez/

if you say yes, i'm sincerely glad you ain't the one makin executive decisions
