Marvel vs. Capcom: A Thread of Two Worlds

MvC has featured more obscure characters before, so I don't see why Moon Knight can't be included.

if anything, if MvC 4 proves to be a hit, and Moon Knight becomes a popular character in it, that would just further boost his exposure to the general audience.

Moon Knight needs literally anything at this point. He's such an underutilized property. A netflix show, a video game, or an appearance in a video game would be nice. Man-thing too. I'm a Man-Thing fanboy though.

I have a feeling he will get something after all the already announced stuff is out of the way.

Yeah, unless they played Marvel Super Heroes or Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter beforehand, most people wouldn't know who Thanos, Shuma or Blackheart were before MVC2.

I missed Megaman, or X. A freaking lot! I still don't get why they left him out and that still irritates me.

Mega Man's exclusion was mostly due to poor decisions by Niitsuma. For the original MVC3, he thought people would be fine with just Zero being there instead of Mega Man. Which was completely off base. He also tried to claim Mega Man didn't have much for fighting game potential based off his MVC2 form. Fair enough, his MVC2 form was lackluster......but then he brings in Jill and completely changes her fighting style in every sense of the word and when Frank West was added in UMVC3 he played almost completely different from how he did in TVC(another game that he developed), so that excuse pretty much gets shot down entirely.

For UMVC3, he was either being ignorant or was flat out lying. Because he said "No Mega Man got much call" which we all know is wrong; X was one of the top 3 requested Capcom characters in just about every poll. Though to be fair, he did state that Mega Man was dropped "near the end", so it's possible he was one of the 8 they were going to use when they wanted to add 20 characters (instead of 12), but whose to say? The real question is why he thought someone like Firebrand or Nemesis had a higher priority than a Mega Man incarnation. The other 4 added Capcom characters were all highly requested picks (they were usually in top 5 alongside Mega Man). Nemesis and Firebrand were clearly not.

So that's really what it really comes down to. Poor decisions by Niitsuma. Mega Man is in Smash 4 as well as Project X Zone. Various Capcom employees have even expressed ill-content on Mega Man being left out of MVC3. So I think it's safe to say that Mega Man not being in MVC3, but appearing in the other aforementioned games is due to "different people working on them".

Dont forget Dormammu, who was a big WTF

I can honestly say no child knows who Moon Knight is, sans his couple animated appearances.

Like all those kids who knew who Doctor Strange was in the last game? Or Shuma Gorath?

yeah, I had no idea who Spiral, Marrow, Shuma, or Blackheart were prior to playing the MvC games. and Blackheart became a character I ended up using quite often in MvC 2.

there were several obscure Capcom characters I had never heard of before, either.

anyways, I hope some more Street Fighter characters make it besides the usual Ryu and Chun-Li.

I'd love for my girls Ibuki and Cammy to make it. or even a character like Rose. something different.

Yeah, that's one thing that kinda irritates me. People giving Capcom flak about some characters in MVC3 not being popular enough to be in, when the previous games also had some obscure characters as well.

In addition to the characters I mentioned beforehand, there was Captain Commando, Jin, Hayato and maybe even Strider. Outside of the Capcom vs games, barely anyone knew who they were unless they google them or something. There was also SonSon the granddaughter of a character with the same name from an obscure arcade game. And Amingo and Ruby Heart. Characters that didn't even appear in any games before MVC2.

Oh yeah, I'm starting to remember the shameful - and obvious - lies. If I go back in this thread I'll probably find myself raging about it. I remember when I got even more infuriated when they put "Megaman" in Street Fighter x Tekken, but it was that horrible box art Megaman which was requested by no one ever, and some of them were like "yeah, you wanted Megaman, right? Here it is!"
I'm feeling my blood boil once again.

Megaman was in my top 3 most played characters in MvC and I rocked with him. Any excuses for his absense are the most pure bs. How awesome would it be to have X versus Zero?

MvC is fun, but I still want that Marvel brawler, that basically looked like a Marvel fighting simulator, that had you fight in entire city blocks.

I want a Marvel Smash Bros. Haha

Since MVC4 is most probably happening, let's see who in the Marvel side is going to be playable. Obviously I am omitting X-Men and FF.

MCU Characters that already has a moveset:
Iron Man
Captain America
Thor
Hulk
Hawkeye
Doctor Strange
Rocket Raccoon
Iron Fist
Spider-Man
Ghost Rider (I have a feeling it would be Robbie Reyes instead).
Dormammu

Other characters that have a chance:
MODOK
She-Hulk
Taskmaster

From MVC2:
Thanos (Obviously)
Venom
War Machine (Iron Man Clone?)

New characters that have a major chance:
Black Widow
Falcon
Winter Soldier
Vision
Black Panther
Scarlet Witch
Quicksilver
GOTG members
Ant-Man
Captain Marvel (replacing Nova)
Luke Cage
Daredevil
Elektra
Jessica Jones
Loki

Lastly, if they really have to include characters they don't own, it would be Wolverine, Deadpool and Doctor Doom because of their popularity.

This no X-men thing is really irritating me at this point. They screwed with them in the comics to the point I just walked away from them all together. Hopefully we get at least Wolverine & Deadpool. Deadpool was one of the more popular additions in MVC3 so I can't see them dismissing him. As far as the roster? Probably something like this

Spider-Man
Iron Man
Hulk
Captain America
Thor
Black Widow
Hawkeye
Scarlet Witch
Captain Marvel
Vision
Rocket
Groot
Gamora
Starlord
Black Panther
Daredevil
Jessica Jones
Iron Fist
Dr. Strange
Loki
Thanos
Ultron
Ronan
Dormmamu

Final Boss: Thanos w/ Gauntlet

MvC and the second one were my childhood games! I hope they include Psylocke and Angel!

Fantastic Four would be nice too, since they ignored those four in the previous games.

Marvel Vs Street Fighter would be better for me as I'm not keen/or as familiar with some of the other non SF Capcom characters.

Never heard of Dante, Jill Valentine, Chris Red field, Vergil, Albert Wesker, Leon S. Kennedy, Morrigan, Ace Attorney, Nemesis?

Even though Capcom has a smaller amount of characters, they can be as marketable as the Marvel characters. I feel like if Sony could give their Capcom properties great live action movies, they could be having a lot more film franchises other than Resident Evil which is already ending next year.

I didn't say I'd never heard of them, thanks.

Definitely nowhere near as marketable for me (and I'm a Resident Evil fan too) and not as suitable for beat em ups. Lara Croft is a huge and very marketable character but I don't have a burning need to see her in a beat'em up.

Next to impossible, but if by some miracle we got a new X-Man, my pick would be Angel/Archangel.

Iceman, nah man. Nah.

One of the best, maybe the best thing about MvC has been the use of the Capcom characters. From the straight up obvious like Strider, Vergil, Dante, Morrgian and Zero, to the odd ones like Tron, Phoenix Wright and Amaterasu. They add to the colorfulness and the beautiful variety of the series. No Haggar? No Viewtiful Joe? No Arthur? No Wesker?

Nah.

Logan, Magneto, Storm, Sentinel, and Doom (also Fox). They are the essential ones.

For the MvC2 fans, the return of Cyclops and Gambit would be nice as well.

I agree that Wolverine, Storm, Magneto and Doom are necessities. I think Deadpool is as well. But I don't think Sentinel is essential. Most casual players don't care for him since he's just a generic robot grunt and not an actual character. If it hadn't been for his status as one of the four god tier characters in MVC2, he never would have even made it into MVC3. Even Marvel didn't want him there.

Yep that would be fine with me to exclude all the non-obvious Capcom guys. :woot: The ones you mentioned first are cool but I almost never played as the others. I'm a massive Marvel and Street Fighter fan and would rather they gave me a few more guys from those rosters. The obvious Capcom guys are nice to have in but I wouldn't buy a beat'em up featuring just the others.

I agree it might be less colourful and have less variety, but I've found strict SF games themselves to have plenty of variety and of course Marvel has plenty.

Outside of that rumor, why are people so insistent that X-men wouldnt be in this. Marvel hasnt blocked them from appearing in the other Marvel Universe themed games

Tim Gettys made an interesting prediction. He predicted the game would be PS4 exclusive and could feature Sony characters especially since PS AS2 likely wont be happening

Archangel would be nice ( and Archangel would lend himself better to a fighting game with the metal wings and such ).

but I've always wanted Nightcrawler, too.

so, why not both??

oh, and would Scarlet Witch be considered an X-Men?

I thought I read in the comics Scarlet and Quicksilver were retconned to be non- mutants or something? did that happen?

I think any exclusivity is a mistake. It only takes one game to be missing from a franchise to dull my interest a bit next time out. It is interesting though how Sony are doing well on major franchise beat'em up exclusives.

Scarlet Witch has never been an X-man. She's spent 50 years as an Avenger

ok. but is she still considered a mutant in the comics? She and Quicksilver were Magneto's kids but I don't know if that was recently retconned.
