I actually did watch season 2!HAVE AT IT!
Cool!I actually did watch season 2!
This quote is interesting and kinda baffling. Work on What If S3 was ongoing about a month before Jackman publicly agreed to be Wolverine again, but at that point I don't see how there's any questions about the Fox / Mutant properties in general. That's a long time after the acquisition and Deadpool 3 had been public knowledge for some time. Hell, some of the first mutants and cameos had already popped up in the MCU."In hindsight, I think we were kicking ourselves because, you know, it takes a while to set these things up and do these things. But it’s like we could have done more mutants this season, oh my gosh what the heck, but because at the time we didn’t know that they’re (Disney) gonna have all the Fox stuff back, you know what I mean, so we could have had a Hugh Jackman thing and you know, but oh well. Maybe, maybe there’ll be some (more What If…?) in the future and then we get to party with those guys. But at least we got Storm, that’s awesome."

'What If…?' Director on Season 3: "We Could Have Done More Mutants This Season"
What If...? director Bryan Andrews reveals he would've liked to use Hugh Jackman's Wolverine in the series if they had the rights in time.agentsoffandom.com
My understanding is that animation production started in summer 2022, but they had already been writing and recording season 3 well before that. This quote is interesting and kinda baffling. It doesn't make sense. I was confused when reading the article. This quote is interesting and kinda baffling. Yeah, but even that would be very late to have this information, wouldn't it? The merger was announced in 2017 and went into effect March 2019. It's hard to imagine any doubt about the Fox Marvel properties beyond that tbh.My understanding is that animation production started in summer 2022, but they had already been writing and recording season 3 well before that.
