EA The Official Mass Effect Thread - Part 2

If any of the writers who wrote Mass Effect Andromeda are writing the next game, I don't have much hope of it being good.

was the story of Andromeda really that bad? I never got a chance to play it with my ever growing backlog.

To me, the writing of BioWare games have just gone downhill. There is this weird corporate fakeness to the dialogue that really does feel like both the HR department and the marketing department of EA were overseeing all the writers work to make sure it followed trends and was as safe and as bland as possible.

Yep. Andromeda's narrative was serviceable but incredibly bland, along the lines of the MCU's lesser efforts. If it's more of the same (or worse, like with Veilguard) I have zero interest. And that's coming from someone that pre-ordered Andromeda.

It honestly wasn't THAT bad
well even then, just because it wasn't that bad, doesn't mean it wasn't bad at all in the first place.

dang. I haven't played the game but sadly I can tell exactly what you're trying to tell me :( the remastered trilogy is part of my backlog and I go back and forth of mentally adding Andromeda to it.

Been watching a lot of theory videos and my heart is now set on Shepard vs. Shepard in the 5.

As for Andromeda, I like it. The story isn't great. It feels cobbled together and a lot of hints at more interesting stuff in the future. But I think the biggest problem is all the interesting stuff is still back in the Milky Way. Which is why we're going back.

The gameplay is excellent though. Easily the best playing Mass Effect. By a country mile.

More hyped for Exodus than ME5, to be honest.

this video might bode well for you

Oh for sure the fact two former big names from BioWare working on this potential ME spiritual successor is what excites me.

James Ohlen was lead designer/director on my favourite BioWare games: the Baldur's Gate series, KotOR, DAO and NWN. And you have Drew Karpyshyn who wrote KotOR and ME so the lore and story should be great. Now I'm just waiting to see more gameplay.

I remember seeing the trailer when it was announced, but I wasn't very impressed. But knowing that Karpyshyn and Ohlen are involved has me really intrigued, far more than any Mass Effect game from modern BioWare.

Reactions: Gee
I didn't hate Andromeda, but the end-game was just so forgettable. There weren't any compelling final boss fights. It was just a glorified dungeon crawl and you don't really do anything exciting. It doesn't come close to say the fights against The Wild Hunt or the cooler boss fights in The Witcher 3.

Also the game was clearly incomplete and didn't fulfill all of its ambitions. They clearly left out a lot of content. Also, I just don't find Ryder as a very likable character. Also, be honest you guys. You aren't explorers. You are colonizers.

I found it far fetched that in just a few months in Andromeda galaxy, humans and the other races in the ark have already set up numerous outposts, established piracy lanes, piracy outposts and operations. It just didn't seem believable to me when the ark ships were barely getting by.

Truth be told, I never even heard of the game until that video came across my suggested.

Before that, I thought Starfield would be the next Mass Effect but I haven't had a chance to play that game either.

Without knowing the experience of Andromeda, I hate Mass Effect 3. No amount of years passing will make that game and its ending any less forgiveable.

Yeah I still hate the ME3 ending, they could've remedied it with the LE and have a 4th choice where the Reapers and the Catalyst or whatever the child was called, see the peace between the Quarians and Geth and decide that this new information will have the Reapers leave in peace.

IDGAF if it's a happy ending, some of us like happy endings lol

Also, I know I mod it, but Miranda and Jack deserved a far better romance in 3. I will forever be Team Miranda.
